This is not a real Light Middleweight title fight by definition, and shouldn't be for what is considered a presigious belt (or at least used to be). I like Manny Pacquiao, but this is a fight at 150, not Light Middleweight (147-154). The WBC has essentially sold out its belt as did the WBO in Mannys fight vs. Cotto for money and exposure. I respect Manny and his accomplishments. Hes the greatest fighter on the planet imo. But, he hasnt won a legitimate title since beating Hatton for the Light Welterwight title. I wish it werent true, but if Manny wins he will be an eight weight title holder, but calling him an undisputed eight champion would be a stretch.

i agree. it is not fair to compare these wins to those of fighters in the past who fought bigger guys without any weight restrictions within an established division. this is just manny pushing the envelope once again in terms of his personal limitations.
i dont think he should be saying he is fighting for an 8th division title.

Honestly who cares about the trinket attached?
I'm just glad someone/something has made this a 12rd fight. (More potential War' 4 the buck)

****-A-Belt, **** is only made to hold up your pant's.

Calling him an undisputed anything would be a stretch - he's been lineal in four weight classes, but he's never been undisputed (which makes sense since he's moved weight classes so frequently). Can't take away a title just because it's not legitimate. But at the end of the day, the actual opposition fought is more important. This one is more legitimate in a way than the one he won at lightweight - Margarito is a more legit foe than Diaz. And at the end of the day, if he wins, it probably enhances his legacy, assuming Margo isn't completely shot afterwards.

Hell, if four years ago you said someone would beat Cotto, Hatton, Margarito and Clottey, there's NO WAY you would have thought the person to do that would be Manny Pacquiao.

Yeah, he is tailoring his fights around the fact that hes a physically smaller man, which should be a moot point. I have no problem with him being considered a 6 weight champion. That isnt debatable. But, anything passed that is. Catchweight title fights are absurd.

Well, he defended his title at 147 against a legitimate and highly ranked welterweight in Clottey, and, if after he beat Margo he defended his belt at 154 against a legitimate light middleweight, then I have no problem calling him a light Middleweight title holder and 8 division champ.

If Manny wins Vs. Margarito @ 150/154, I don't expect him to fight at Jr. Middleweight ever again.
(It will be his "Ruiz" fight)

brickhaus, I agree that the opp. is more important. But, the title shouldnt be attached thats my point. I wouldnt even care, except for the fact that this is the same title that Tommy Hearns won from Benitez, and Terry Norris won and defened countless times.

It's also the title Luis Santana held for faking low blows, that's been gifted to shot Vernon Forrest and Javier Castellejo. All the belts are devalued these days and don't really mean ****. The sooner fans realize this, the better off the sport will be.

Right, but it was a title that he won at a catchweight vs. Cotto. Im not arguing his ranking or his quality of opposition, just the 8 weight champ thing. you cant win a title under those circumstances and defend it properly. I do give Manny credit for having the sucess he has had at the highter weights. hes a hell of a fighter and ATG reguardless.

I agree the title are devalued, but it just shouldnt be for a title at all then. the WBC shouldnt be encouraged to continue to devalue their title without consequence.
