I don't believe his claims he had no knowledge. I do believe his claims he hasn't used the pads at every point in his career.
Not at all. The opposite in fact. Richardson said that when he saw the plaster (when it was discovered) he thought "the fight was off". He thought it was such an egregious offense that the CA Commission would call the fight off.
I also think that the words he uses tend to over exagerate what may have went down or how... "A Block fell out" could have been a pad but the term block makes it sound like a ****ing block.. "it was hard as a rock" making it even sound worse than what it is... then when Richardson says a chunk of cake like stuff came off, I mean come on if a cunk of that came off why isnt that or wasnt that sent to the lab with the hand wraps?
Nah. As soon as he flexed his fist he should have known, but we are listening to the "banners" words. We have no idea how "hard" hard was. Still, Margo is an exciting guy to have in the mix and I am glad he is fighting again. I just wish he had more time to get back to his old form before going into a fight of this magnitude. I have mixed emotions about this fight.
Some of the descriptions from those who actually felt those knucklepads were......not hard but firm....another journalist who actually got to feel them said he was expecting them to feel and look much harder than they were, this journalist had to actually fidget around with them and bend them to notice the difference between that and a legal knucklepad....... .....and lets not forget what Mosley himself said right after they fought on that day, "they felt fine to me, but I was told they had the potential to turn hard." ......and the last reports I've heard were that up to the testing of those knucklepads, they had yet to turn block hard as the exxagerating Nazim Richardson first described them. Nazim has changed his tone on the matter at every corner, the last we heard of him he was saying that its quite possible for Margarito not to have known his wraps were loaded. Thats Nazim Richardson saying this, surly if the knucklepads had been block hard as Nazim first described them, Margarito would have known his hands were loaded.
he states he didn't know about anything illegally in his wraps in the mosley match, so how does he know he didn't have any illegal wraps in the cotto fight when he don't know the difference?
I can't see how anyone could stick pads over your knuckles without you knowing. When you get wrapped you constantly make a fist to check the tightness so you watch what is being done.
I can see that. The power structure wants to present itself in a certain light. The shine was fine at first, but I know a good dude like SSM is probably the best source. I like Nazim a lot, but I grew up in the hood. Let an old brother retell a story about a car accident and six months later a fender bender with a broken arm is a 10 car pile up. That is all fine and good, but this dude's life is in the balance. He might finally be realizing the price Margo is paying for his 15 minutes of fame.
Just putting it out there, but... Maybe he accepted a slightly different feeling and looking back they weren't feeling the same? Sometimes you don't understand where you are at until you leave.
Which is the reason why Nazim Richardson changed his story and is now on record as stating its very possible that Margarito did'nt know. From Richardson's initial telling and how he described the knucklepads.......his conscious now and the knowing that Margarito's career was at stake, he sent a quote that Margarito's defense team used in them getting reinstated by the Texas commision that benefited Margarito.
"Blue Collar" fighters need to look out for each other. Especially coming from SSM's camp. Imagine if SSM never got a second shot? Give the man a chance at redemption. It is just this fight has me so damed confused! :gsg
He clearly stated that he would've been the first to complain to Capetillo if had felt a difference in the pads. He never got a chance to punch Mosley with the pad capetillo tried to insert therefore he could never tell the difference. So either Margarito has been cheating all his life or he's right about knowing nothing about that pad which might also explain Capetillo's claim that this was a one-time only mistake!
Bull**** story and I'm glad Pac called out and mocked Margarito about it. Give me a ****ing break - it was another fighter's gauze? Wouldn't it have looked discolored, hardened, or smelled like ****? And do fighters routinely reuse their wraps? :nut
"Traces" of calcium and sulfur is what the lab found present. Since human blood and sweat both contain calcium and sulfur, it would be very unsual not to find them on used knuckle pads. Nazim Richardson, and the CSAC are not credible.
