I wathced basically all of Mayweather fights.

You are still reminiscing the "GLORY DAYS"?

Even during the 130's, he was never in the mold of "pressure fighter".

You can call it whatever you like but pressure fighters are Hearns, Duran mold by boxing definition. He was an effective counterpuncher, period.

If he showed flashes of pressure, that is just it.Some fighters at some point of the fight tend to do that. Even SRL was so good when he wanted to because he was a very good finisher as well.

Put a poll and ask anyone if Gayweather is a pressure fighter and you will lose much worse than the FLOORED poll.

Chavez did have quite an underrated defense.

For someone who threw many shots and was in his opponents face 95% of the time he didn't get hit nearly as much as he should have.

He had good head movement, subtle arm movement to parry and block shots and he quickly got his hands back into a defensive position after throwing his own shots.

Pressure is a self explanatory term.

Otherwise, JMM would also be considered a pressure fighter by your own definiton. He basically was doing what Mayweather was doing in your previous description although he might not as perfect as Mayweather, meaning he gets tag more often than Mayweather.

You should stop paying so much attention to Mayweather, go watch some English videos.

If you started a thread like these " Is there someone who applies pressure more effectively than Mayweather?" then I might have to agree.

But to state it as Better pressure fighter? He is never a pressure fighter! Pressure fighting is a style which a figters do 24/7, in his entire career. It is not a thing that he chooses to do sporadically.

You are basicvally redefining boxing definitions again.

Based on what you just said, people don't count as "pressure fighters" if they ever fight defensively, since pressure fighting = 24/7. Don't deal in absolutes, it tends to make you wrong every time.

I almost replied to pejevan saying that by his logic Pac is a crude defenseless one dimension slugger, but I stopped myself. I think there's something in Karceno's videos that is brainwashing posters into *****s.

    :lol::lol:

Is that all you can reply?

So you are again in a Mayweather-Glorifying thread? Not unusual since you find him "sexy faced".

I seldom watch English or videos films, it is garbage. I like to watch foreign language films like Akira Korusawa. Try it sometime, it adds something to your mentally challenged brain. Try seven samurai, or dodeskaden, or ran.

So you are saying that Mayweather is a pressure fighter, a counterpuncher rolled into one?

You are taking it too literally.
Pressure fighting is a style of fighting, it does not mean that he won't be defensive at some point in the fight (he might get tag, losing etc) but he is defined by it.

Some counterpunchers like JMM are also good when they apply pressure especially when they have the upperhand in the hand or winning. And it might be that they are walking down his opponent for 10 rounds of the 12 rounds but he is not a pressure fighter. That is not his style. Is he the better pressure fighter than say Juan Diaz? No. Simply because he was never a pressure fighter to begin with. But he can apply more effective pressure (meaning better connect percentage, shot selection, etc) if he wants to if given the right circumstances. Just like Diaz might counterpunch occassionally. But he will never be a counterpunchrer fighter.

You suggested that being a pressure fighter means putting on pressure 24/7. That is untrue.

Similarly, Floyd Mayweather is a counterpuncher who is also brilliant when applying pressure.

24/7 might be the wrong term but that fighter would have applied that kind style for his entire career. Meaning that if he is 24-0, he does it in his 24 fights. He sure might have fought defensively in some of the fights but that style defined him.

I know you get the point. Some counterpunchers or defensive fighters are brilliant when applying pressure. Even SRL was brilliant at that, so was JMM.

The thread title is just wrongly worded. Because if I am to answer the thread, I would say almost every pressure fighter there is in boxing. It is like comparing apples to oranges, both fruit but no area of comparison beyond that.
