Better pressure fighter then Floyd Mayweather in boxing today?

If you don't recant this post and/or acknowledge that you spoke in the heat of the moment and said something stupid, you are a ****ing ******. Not trying to be a dick, but to say out of 41 fights he showed flashes of pressure against 1 or 2 hopeless opponents is ****ing stupid and demonstrates your lack of understanding in terms of true boxing. Welcome to boxing, please watch some other fighters before completley misinterpreting Floyds style.

 

Plenty of pressure fighters didn't fight on the inside. It's just one way of applying pressure but it's not the only way. Granted, it seems strange to call someone like Wladimir a pressure fighter, given the usual style of pressure fighters, but that's what he does.

As for the thread, there are too few examples to list Mayweather as the best. To be considered the best, you need to prove it against pretty much everyone. It has to be your style, but it's obviously not Mayweather's. He does it well and it's an underrated aspect of his game but you're making a monumental jump by calling him the best pressure fighter in boxing.

 

Pressure fighter? Come on man.

That isn't "pressure fighting" in the classic sense. That is more "tension" fighting. A counter puncher staying too close so that a more offensive fighter is "forced" to throw out of habit.

Margo? Cotto at 140? Paul Williams? That is "pressure" fighting.

 

Hey man, "hopeless" means former WW title holders with known tremendous natural talent and the number #1 WW at the time. Now "true greatness" is fighting everyone's sloppy seconds and/or one dimensional fighters off of recent losses. :deal

I am known around here to be a "*****" but there comes a point man...

Being a pure boxer and following a guy with intentions of baiting him ain't "pressure fighting". Is cutting off the ring a feat? You BETTER have superior footwork.

 

C'mon I think even Floyd would agree that he isn't a pressure fighter. Yes, he's a genius in the ring and like he's always said he doesn't watch any videos according to him he just adjusts to anyone he's fighting, but mostly when like montero said, when he's facing a beaten man or someone just not on his level, Floyd gets to do what he pleases with them, usually mid or late in the fight. Pacman isn't as slick as Floyd, but I think he also looks like cat playing with a mouse with some of his opponents.

 

I think basically the idea here is that while Floyd isn't a typical pressure fighter, he is incredibly effective when he does apply pressure.

I finally admit defeat, Mayweather is the best pressure fighter there ever was.

Sorry dudes I never intended Mayweather be called a pressure fighter. He isnt. But when he does apply pressure, is there anyone in boxing better then him?


And no most great fighters are versatile, doesnt mean that a fighter cant be 2 or more styles in one. Andre Ward can box excellently off the back foot but his bread and butter is smothering the other guy. Doesnt mean he cant box capice? Same way it doesnt mean Floyd cant pressure.
