That is a filipino fighting on US soil. Not bad.

Now try to get PBF to fight in the Philippines, let's see how many will be willing to pay at the same ticket price. :yep

Heck get him to fight Clottey in the US, I truly doubt he would land anything close to that number.

Don't try and twist my words. The pinoys support pac in the us but that support doesn't translate to ppv buys which pbf clearly has the edge in making pbf more popular and the bigger draw.

When you talk about "Popularity".....that is a "positive" word used to describe someone or something that the masses "LIKE"....or "ENJOY".

With Floyd...his popularity is very hard to guage simply b/c he has a very contraversial persona that "SOME" gravitate to but MOST detest. Which also causes a very emotionally driven re-action that translates into PPV buys.

But to say he's MORE popular would be wrong. He gets more PPV buys but that doesn't mean Floyd is more popular. It just means Floyds really good at creating an atmosphere where casual and hardcore fans become engulfed in watching Floyd in hopes that he fails.

When Fans watch Manny and those who support him...they are not supporting him to see him lose...they want to see him win.

Floyd is the bigger PPV draw for sure but PAC is more popular.

^ Well said. Floyd is a good marketer no doubt, i.e. he's a good bullshitter. He's great at suckering people into buying boring ass fights in the hopes that he loses.

If Floyd had an L on his record, he would be about as popular as Zab Judah.

I'm still waiting for a ******** to explain how they can measure pacs popularity worldwide comparedc to floyd when the only measure that we can rely on is ppv numbers.

You could be right. Floyd only really got popular after the DLH fight. That took him to a new level and one that he's been riding successfully. so he knows what he's doing. But lately all of his contraversial actions seem to be coming round full circle in a bad way.

I honestly think Floyd with a lost may have been a more respected fighter. That "LOSS" could have humbled him a bit and maybe would have caused him to care more about boxing and his legacy rather than keeping up with the whole "MONEY" persona with the whole "**** THE WORLD" mentality.

Nah kid....you can guage popularity on a global scale with a lot of different criteria. Sponsorships, endorsements, Ticket and gate sales....of course there's PPV's...there's also how celebs or entertianers are "mobbed" by fans and papparzzi. PPV's doesn't guage JUST popularity....it could give some insight to the level of popularity but it more less shows drawing power.

Sponsorships so if a has 3 sponsors and b chas 5 sponsors that guy must be more popular?

Not at all that theory is flawed and you know that yourself.

Thats like saying if someone is in the papers two more times than you they are more popular despite that person fighting and you not.

floyd is on vacation still and pac fights in 3 weeks more threads are still made on floyd.

does that mean he is more popular?

What about running for congress and actually winning?

Or perhaps the fact that when one fights, the crime rate on that day drops to 0 in a country that is ranked 114th vs the US' 83rd in safest country index?

You are either just playing naive or just plain ignorant if you really think Floyd is a globally more popular than Pac.

In a lot of cases....YES... Not in all but BIG corporations won't take risks on fringe celeberties or those who have too much contraversy surrounding their "BRAND". But for someone like Kobe, Tiger or PAC....all have A LOT of sponsorships and endorsements based on the level of popularity their "BRAND" creates....so the more marketable you are...the more popular you are, the more sponsors and endorsments you'll have..

And my posts is NOTHING like saying "if someone is in the papers more times than you they are more Popular":huh That makes no sense to me.

Actually PAC has more threads made about him on ESB.....and in most other message boards focused on boxing. But having more threads doesn't really speak to someone's popualrity.
