The problem is that you are simply not verry good at interpreting old fight films. It is a key skill that you either dont have or have never tried to cultivate. You are also not doing yourself any favours by saying that Dempsey looks sh1t on film because more astute observers can see that it is clearly not the case.
I think I know what is going on. All he has ever seen is the last minute and 20 seconds of Dempsey Willard, where dempsey is admittedy looks wild as he goes hard for the KO. I very much doubt he has seen much else.
It really ruins it when you have to say you're being sarcastic though. If I were you I would've just kept arguing the point and if they didn't know I was kidding, it would've been hilarious.
Janitor you are the guy claims Dempsey vs Tyson is a 50/50, Jack Johnson is perhaps the greatest technical fighter ever and that the golden age, where boxing reached its peak is the 1890's/1900's era. On the subject of doing ourself favours. There is no key skill bull**** going on here it is just blatant era bias. By 'more astute' observers you mean either old folk or against the grain, anti-commercial know it alls who are full of ****.
And as for you Johnstown you little shithouse, what have you seen exactly? I have one or two old casettes from a collection with the Tunney fights on, the Firpo fight, Gibbons fight, Carpentier fight and the Willard fight.
I'm not on your level yet. Your work in LukeO's thread about Mayweather's legs being gone was top notch.
Firpo fight is so low quality its close to useless... If you have seriously watched dempsey footage and have the opinion you have, then you are a total fool.
I think the trick is to argue points that have a tiny basis in reality. Like Mayweathers legs, truth is his legs maybe aren't as good as they where 10 years ago...so then you so go to the next level. Even the Sugar Valuev ****...truth is at his best his jab was decent.....so then you just show clips of that jab...and boom...all time great.
Johnstown, get real. SNV's jab is even better than Danny Green's ATG jab. Stop embarrassing yourself. This content is protected Holmes ain't got **** on the Sugar man.
Dempsey didn't have a jab, was often guilty of rushing in recklessly with his hands down, often punched wide leaving himself open to counters and sporadic head movement that could be timed. Foster himself makes mistakes such as fighting short. Stylistically Fosters jab and speed may give Dempsey problems, his countering ability. Foster would also likely be the best puncher and his punches would likely have more affect against Dempsey as Dempsey is a smaller HW himself I give Dempsey the edge based on his better chin, strength and if its a shoot out he should KO Bob however we knows hes had problems with other LHWs
