Someone will say it so I might as well be first...

Watch Quarry-Shavers for an indictaion of how it might go.

Of course earnie could finish any fight but the odds are stacked against him in this one.

Like Roy Jones apparently never fought anybody at LHW. Dempsey drew the colour line and never fought anybody black(who have always dominated the HW division). So its hard for me to pick him over a black guy, because he flat out ducked the entire race and never proved himself a lineal-level contender/champion, also he looks like **** on film. So Shavers by KO, who a lack of skill and fluidity would prove fatal against. H2H.

Dempsey had the better speed and chin and stamina...I like Dempsey by KO but he better not take Shavers lightly

    Stanima? Dempsey?? When?

Jerry Quarry would take Dempsey out 21 times out of 20 bouts.

You guys who hate dempsey are amazing...its fine to feel he would lose those fights..but you guys make arguments that amount to saying Dempsey was the worst heavyweight of al time.

No... Dempsey was gold in a day of limits. Everything was in Dempsey's favour. Do you honestly think Jack (the same H/W who was out boxed by the jabbing, straight right hand Tunney) would come close to a more fluid PUNCHER like Quarry??

Quarry was no walk over my friend. Floyd Patterson would have iced Dempsey..

    Oh 'Toledo Dempsey.. blah blah..'

Jack Dempsey is one of the most enduring names in H/W history.. and shall remain so. Deservedly.... but, does he really have the ability to face 'in your face BANGERS'??? NO!!!!!!!

Black fighters have not always dominated the heavyweight division by any means. There are significant periods during the era before world war II where there were no black contenders who were even close to the champions in calibre.

The fighters who the colour bar were drawn against are getting their revenge today because even those who didnt have a cat in hells chance of becoming champion are being held up asuncrowned heavyweight kings.

Hmmm well allot of the footage on dempsey (at least pre Tunney) showed a guy with very good footwork....I feel better then Quarry and Patterson. I think Shavers would be a threat, but I feel Dempsey would fight smart and win. Ill post some footage after I get home (I am on a blackberry and can't do it from here)
