Funny how you think Pacquiao facing a guy who got outclassed by the "39 year old former champions" is somehow not cherry picking?

That's just because he's very hard to beat.

If Manny Whupped Marquez and Mosely back to back, you'd be in floods of tears, declaring him better than Sugar Ray Robinson?

You seriously think Cotto, Hatton, Clottey, Margarito would do any better than Mosely?!

He'd whup all of those guys, and you'd be dreaming up another "great hope"

Marquez would be a 50/50 fight for Pacquiao. As would Mosely

There isn't much size difference between Manny and Floyd.

    It's just a comfort blanket for *******s.

Manny was coming into the ring at 146 pounds at Super Featherweight. Floyd was only 149 pounds against Oscar at Junior Middleweight.

Difference between the two is that Floyd just moved the low divisions very early, as there was nothing there to face. Manny hung around, boiled down, with huge weight advantages in every fight he had.

Manny was 148 in ring with Oscar. Floyd was 149 in ring with Mosely.

Only real differences are about an inch in height, a few inches in reach, and the fact that Floyd's a full class level better than Pacquiao.

Realize it will be Pacland's next great excuse - "Floyd only fought Manny as he's small".

But the primary reason Floyd will beat him is the same reason he spanked Marquez easily.

He's so skilled that he's not going to be pushed by anyone unless they have significant height and weight advantages over him.

Floyd would get pushed by a guy coming in at say 168? Not a guy coming in the same size as him

Reach I believe will be a factor, but not height or strength. I don't see Mayweather sitting on the ropes in this one, or staying in the same place for very long either. He will probably try to keep him at arms length and make him walk onto shots, break him down. The strength he showed against Mosley I doubt will be needed until later on in the bout for that reason.

Size is the most irrelevant factor in the fight. Floyd is NOT a big guy. I used to fight at 118/122 and when I met floyd in person his frame was no bigger than mine, eye to eye, maybe just a little wider in the lower torso.

Pac is going to give up about two inches in height, but he's giving up five to Tony and the difference in frame between slender Floyd and stocky Cotto is astonishing. Its going to be a story of how well Pac's in and out can be utilized against a master of range and precision with a good right, versus how ineffective Floyd's defense is against a quick in and out guy with weird angles and a deadly left. A lot of intangibles in this fight but size is not one of them. If pac can hurt Cotto or Morales he can hurt Floyd, that's all there is to it. If Floyd can outbox Mosley and Marquez so comprehensively there's a chance he can outbox Pac, and that's why the fight just needs to be made. Either guy can beat the other with their weird clashing attributes, but when they get in the ring it might wind up not being competitive (early ko by pac, easy ud by floyd are equally likely outcomes).

like someone said it's definitely the reach, not the height. And Floyd knows how to use reach pretty well, but then Manny's footwork, speed, and angles might spell havoc to Floyd's defense. Both are magnificent counter punchers

Neither of them want to fight each other I dont think. Too much risk for either of them.

It will. Floyd likes to tactically use the clinches in fights, but hugging is not emmanuel's thing. Floyd can outmuscle emmanuel around in the clinches.

possibly yes. a great small man can beat a good big man but if the bigger man is also great, it would be much difficult for the smaller man. we'll see once the bigger man got his balls back.

Mayweather can out-muscle Pacquiao, but I don't expect to see many clinches if this bout does come off...just like I don't expect Mayweather to sit in the pocket as much as he would do. Mayweather will most likely try tie Pacquiao up if Manny gets himself in a position to unleash 3-4 shots...but the only time I expect to see Mayweather's advantage in strength to present itself in the bout is when he has broken Pacquiao down, if he can.

Yes, it will be if it ever happens. Floyd has a longer reach, and he will use his size and heavier body in the clinches and on the inside to wear Manny down.

Young Mayweather didn't clinch Marquez much, but it was straight up bullying when it did happen. Marquez doesn't clinch much and had absolutely no idea on how to deal with it. This is why I think Floyd will take advantage of emmanuel's lack of experience in the clinch game at some periods in the fight.

I think he will try tie Pacquiao up in the early rounds of the bout just to frustrate him, not necessarily to lean on him...and IF he can get the upper hand in the bout, in the later rounds we might see the Mayweather that beat Mosley appear.
