How come there wasn't a Whitaker/Chavez rematch?

The only thing exposed here was you're lack of boxing knowledge.

By the way, the real answer to the question is.....because nobody wanted to see that **** again. Sweetpea put on a great performance but that fight had
ZERO excitement value which is a key factor in getting rematches made!

Nobody is saying Chavez was a "shell" when he faced Pea and Oscar, but he was far passed his best days when he faced Oscar, by that time he would cut very easily, and was nowhere near as disciplined as he used to be...Try watching his fights with Rosario and Taylor and tell me thats the same Chavez then the one Oscar faced...Against Whitaker, Chavez was past his peak, but was still very good, and lets face it, Chavez was not very effective at Welter. Im not making any excuses for his "loss" against Pea, Chavez would still lose to Pea, even at Lightweight where Chavez was at his peak, but it would be more competitive than their '93 fight. Pernell is simply unbeatable at 135/140.

This thread is proof of the animosity towards Chavez for what he did to Taylor.

And there was no rematch with Whitaker because JCC lost a few months later, where he was knocked down for the first time in his career by Randall, clearly showing us that age and wars were already catching up to him.

It is like the dumbarses who say that Lennox Lewis beat a prime Evander Holyfield, or that there was anything meaningful when Lewis beat Tyson.

Thats exactly it i think- Although from a $$$ standpoint, I think the trilogy would have been Tyson-esque in numbers!! :)
