To the TS - Jones was superior in 94-96 at smw than he was in 02 at lhw. Clearly IMO.

There are AT LEAST 6 former Light Heavyweight Champions who would not only beat Roy but would knock his Glass Jawed ass out cold.

 

Add Patterson, Moorer, and Gene Tunney to that list and all by brutal and embarrassing KO.

Patterson wasn't a light heavyweight in his pro career to my knowledge but I would give him a great chance against Jones if he was. Good shoutout to Tunney.

At 168 I would favor him over anyone in history but not at 175. Too many ATGs in that rich division, Foster, Moore and others.

 

Mikey Moorer is #1 H2H at Lt-heavy IMO.

False. Beating a garbage man and a C level fighter doesnt mean he would beat the best light heavyweights ever.

 

In that case, I say he doesnt beat a lot of the guys I mentioned. At that point in his career, you could see that he was seemingly bored in there at times. He was so good for so long that he was losing his desire I believe. Thats why he fought Ruiz. It gave him something more than just another title defense, which was what Kelley and Woods were. So given his mental state, I think some of these determined tough light heavyweights of yeasterday would beat that version of Roy.

 

I believe Michalczewski would KO him with a single punch. Too bad this never happened.

As about RJJ, glassjaw but fastest hands that ever boxed.

 

That's the problem I had with the question too. I don't think this is the best version of Jones.

 

Even at 168 there were too many great fighters that Jones would have lost to. Eubank, Benn, Collins, Calzaghe, Ottke, Kessler
