Not exactly true, because I thought Castillo won the first one and it was close either way. Plus there are fighters he didn't fight at the time who might have been able to beat him. Now we will never know. Either way its his defensive style, makes it hard on almost any fighter.
Nobody "adjusts" to Floyd because Floyd only fights guys he knows he can beat...Hence the no fight between him and Cotto, Margarito, and Pac.
This thread goes to show the hate and hypocrisy from Pacquiao fans . The best cherry picker is the man so many of you fad following ***s have as your avatar. Oscar was a zombie. Hatton already was turnbuckled. And don't give me the "he was at his best weight" bull****. He's called Ricky Fatton because he balloons up to 180 between fights meaning he has to lose 40 pounds to get to his fighting weight. Cotto was damaged goods. Clottey is a nobody who gives away fights. Margarito..."I saw your last 2 fights".Roach in his own words. Where has the true "risk" been? Now back to the thread topic. Floyd adapts because he actually pays attention, reads, measures and studies his opponents while in the ring. He doesn't watch film because he thinks it can be decieving. The weakness to it is that early on its the best chance for his opponent to win but the sad thing is it can also become the worst time as well. He adapted immediately in the Corley fight when he got stunned by Chop Chop and in the same round he stunned Corley right back immediately and took the round IMO. Shane, same deal. You watch the end of the 2nd and Shane looked so much more shook than Floyd then of course Floyd from round 3 on out dominated him. Every fighter has a rhythm or routine they go thru. Floyd doesn't . His routine and rhythm has always depended on his opponent hence why he's unreadable to his opposition . You can't anticipate something that is unknown to you . Take Manny Pacquiao for example . The guy to me is just like Ricky Hatton. You'll see Manny do the same cadence of footwork over and over before explosively lunging in. I think Floyd will be overwhelmed at first avoiding and blocking Manny's firepower but it'll be the same boring story every boring time. Floyd adapts and owns him. Manny is a mechanical fighter who doesn't think like mostly everyone else. His outgunn tactic during adversity instead of adapting isn't going to work on the smarter Floyd who will counter the pinoy out of his ass. Bottom line. Adapt and destroy much like Caesar's divide and conquer .
They make the mistake of fallowing Jose Luis Casitilio's game plan from their first fight. Forgeting that Mayweather won the fight and that he was hurt. They also pressure him because they seem to have the need to make the fight exciting instead of trying to beat him. Unless you have devisiting one punch power. Most welterweights don't that includs all of today's welterweights including Pacquiao. The way to beat a boxer is to out box him and the way to beat a counterpuncher is to out counterpunch him. the problem with that is that Mayweather is a better boxer and counterpuncher than anyone else out there. We are not going to see Mayweather lose a match. (yes he will box again and aginst top compitition) for a while if at all. It would happen if he gets old and/or extends himself into the middleweight division.
You can't do the same you ******* that doesn't know **** about about boxing because like so many you've only truly started to follow Manny during the Oscar fight. Oscar was 166 pounds on fight night while Floyd was 149. Very much unlike Manny who outweighed Oscar when he fought him. Ricky was "undefeated" when Floyd fought him. He wasn't turnbuckled and Lazcano punch drunked like when Manny fought him. JMM to this day would still make Manny look vulnerable . Shane at 142 pound catchweight was still to scary for Roach to put Manny in the ring with but now all of a sudden is a future opponent for Manny . I can see Roach now verbatim telling Shane exactly what he told Margarito and Oscar . "I saw your last 2 fights". Get out of here you sorry ass ******* . You guys are the worst thing that ever happened to boxing poisoning it with your hate and ignorance . I'll be so glad when your better cherry picking fighter gets exposed so you sorry ****s can go back to doing whatever before you bums started to follow the fad of Manny .
Floyd does not get forced into ****. The entire world has been :| for over a year about making a Floyd-emmanuel fight happen, but Floyd has not sacrificed his demands just to do what other pepole want.
I think fighters find it hard to adapt to Mayweather, because Floyd usually waits and adapts to his opponent and then sets traps for opportunities to counterpunch and pick holes in his opponents defense. With a defence like Floyds, mixed in with cat like reflexs and a high ring IQ, he is always going to be hard to adapt to. Fighters are often scared to throw, because they know as soon as they miss - they will get hit, watch the Mosely fight for Example. Oscar was having success with his jab, then Mayweather adapted, started making Oscar pay, then Oscar was scared to throw and would only throw late in the rounds, near the bell, when he knew that he wasnt going to get hit. On Pac Vs Floyd though, I think the fact that Pac man doesnt mind being hit and walking through shots to get off, would make for a very interesting fight, then theres the fact that he is a southpaw with quick hands, so I can see how he could possibly pose a problem for Floyd. But Id lean to Mayweather, I think he is too smart.
He knows he can beat? Pac has fought who? ODLH - Mayweather beat FIRST at his best weight with 10oz gloves Hatton - Mayweather beat FIRST with his original coach Cotto - DESTROYED by Margo Margo - DESTROYED by Mosely Mosley? - Pac ducked but Mayweather destroyed him.
Well a prime JMM would fight more off another fighters aggression. Im not sure if thats what you mean. He was a pure counter puncher ala PBF. He started becoming more of a boxer puncher to attract the crowds ala Morales-Barrera.
I'm not questioning his style of choice opposition, i'm just judging him based on it. Which is what I get to do as a fan who supports the sport and fighters with my money.
like when you thought he had no chance vs cotto, or cintron.....just face it homie, margo aint sugar ray by any means, but he aint baldomir either......and what he has, is really hard to come by in boxing....his skillset has nothing to do with the fact that many ducked him, his toughness, punch output and size is the real reason...... you can twist it how you want homie, but your boy still ducked him and chose a weaker opponent
