I'd be the same way, I always focus on how I think my team or fighter can come up short. Probably makes it even better when they win though, cause you were expecting the worst.

Khan wins this very wide on points. He's the fastest 140 lb fighter at present in terms of hand speed, his punch placement and timing have really improved also,he will find the target with ease.

he's avoided maidana for so long, he's now getting respect for finally doing what he should have done a year ago.

As well as minimizing the disappointment when your guy/team loses.

This is probably the reason why I tend to focus on the negatives and threats so much. Mainly because in the past (be it in football or boxing) I've often been ignorant of the opposition's capabilities, and have been stung badly whenever they've caused an upset.

Yes that's true. Maidana will be eating plenty of leather on the night.

But it's not Khan's offence that I'm concerned about. Nope. It's his defence.

He hasn't avoided him for that long at all, really.

 He avoided him for one fight only.

But to most people on ESB, Khan's being ducking Maidana his whole career.

His defence is fine and getting better. No one's defence is perfect. Mayweather for instance when he got clocked with that right hand.

As some people say, the best offense is a good defense. This will a Khan-Barrera style replica of a game-plan.

Khan will use combinations to upset Maidana. That's the only way to keep him at bay. He won't do jab jab as people think.

I'm not worried about his D. Just the fact that I don't think he can stay disciplined.

Man I'm worried about this fight. I have a horrible feeling Amir might be caught cold in the first round again.

    What?

How has it been 'so long'?

He won the title in July. His mandatory was Salita, which was set for December.

He didn't want Maidana for his Debut because no one knows Maidana as much.

Even now, it doesn't even bring huge money. There was a reason why this fight was taking long to negotiate, and that was because of the money HBO were putting up.

But if you want to see that as a duck, then he ducked him for 5 months. Very long indeed.

I think it's the other way round. Khan will stay disciplined and follow Roach's gameplan to a tee. But it's how he reacts to Maidana's aggression (something he's not experienced since Gomez) and power (something he's not experienced since Prescott), which will determine his success.

Maidana will make him feel his force. Will Khan's fortress stand up? It ****ing better! Because once Maidana breaks through them walls, he's going to violate that chin pretty bad.

But don't get me wrong, Laz. Khan's arsenal will play a major role it keeping Maidana at bay. His awesome jab and rapid combinations flying with precision and pop, will make Maidana's job a whole lot harder.

Probably not in the first round, dude. Maybe in the mid to late rounds, depending on how Khan's defence holds up.
