i believe the fat man can beat any version of ken norton(ive just never been a fan of norton to me he fought like a *****)any response on this fantasy matchup?
i wouldn't call him a fat man to his face.or in a letter or on the phone come to that.one tough S.O.B. he was
It would be a bad style match for Norton no doubt. A guy with Gallento's physique beating a guy with Nortons physique just seems intrinsicaly wrong!
didnt say he was a ***** but to me fought at times like a ***** as did lyle.my knowledge of boxing is not that bad but im not the greatest and am entitled to my opinion just as i respect yours.
It would take a lucky shot landed by Galento to get Norton out of there. I think Ken would outscore Tony before taking him out in the later rounds. Norton would be too slick on defense and have too much output on offense.
Coulg go either way, Norton either frustrates an outscores him early before a late stoppage, or Galento catches him early. An we all know what happens then
Thats prety much it. While Gallentos training ethic and technical ability are open to interpretation, his power is not.
i like this norton gets flustered. if he got flustered against a psychotic brute like galento, he could get flattened more likely though, norton carves up his face as did both baer brothers. but norton lacks even buddy's power, nevermind max's. tony would be undetered and would lay hard leather on norton all night. i also don't see norton reacting well to the previously mentioned low blows the more i think about it, the more i favour galento
Tony wasn't just lethal with that hook, but he was also very quick with his fists, and has been acknowledged for having a fine double jab. If it came down to who had the better chin or greater toughness and resilience, Ken would have no chance at all. Nobody else ever came off the deck against Louis to return the favor. Then, there's the matter of sportsmanship and fouling. Norton was a very clean boxer. Galento was a ruthless thug. LeDoux proved that Kenny didn't merely have a suspect chin, but also a glassy eye. As for Two-Ton, everything about him was suspect, from his training habits, to his tactics, to his attitude in general. "Never get in a fight with an ugly man. He has nothing to lose!" In this pairing, Ken Norton is a dead man.
Galento has something of a puncher's chance, but Norton wins this by UD, TKO, or most likely on cuts (the cuts come first before the other 2). Just because Norton got flattened by Foreman, then Shavers and Cooney when past it, doesn't automatically means he definitely gets sparked by Galento. Look at Galento's record - 26 losses, many against names lesser than Norton. I think this is stopped on cuts in a fight not for the squeamish...only Galento's chin and bravery keeps him upright, but overall I think Norton batters him, leading by a country mile on points.
If Galento tags him on the button early, then Ken could be in serious trouble. But if Norton surivives and gets his game going, I can see his boxing ability and vastly superior conditioning leading to a stoppage victory. Ken's chin was suspect, but Galento was no George Foreman, and while he stopped a few named opponents, I don't think any of them was on Ken's level...
With respect to Tony Gallento, there is no chance in hell he's winning this fight. People point to Norton's "chin" being a problem in h2h matchups but they fail to realize that he was KO'd...3-4 years past his peak... by two of the biggest punchers of the century who were also a class above Galento in talent/skill. Norton KO4.
