My grandad thought very highly of Hagler also. He was alot more knowledgable than me. Infact if i tried to make a point or talk about fighters i was watching at the time, he'd just flat out ignore me and tell me about some other boxer from previous times. If i'd ask him who was the best he's seen he'd tell me Archie Moore, Hagler, Hearns and Holmes

Jones could definatley beat Robinson at MW. Hopkins was beaten relatively easy, he completely embarrassed everyone else he fought there. He was huge there, too much of a physical freak

Jones could beat Robinson at MW.....

but odds are Ray tees off on him with one of many knockout punches and it's all over. Lights out, good day, try and clown the GOAT another day.

i don't think robinson could spot jones 10lbs, which he'd have to at middle.robbie is the best ever at 147 or 154, but not middle

jones never fought anyone even near Robinson's level at MW though, he was comparatively untested and unseasoned at that weight. Robbie may not be the 160 goat but he's a top ten arguably even 5 for sure and still quite dangerous, too dangerous for a guy like jones to take on

So Hopkins was not near Robinson's level at MW? I'm pretty sure he's unanimously top 5 and also a massive MW himself. Theres no need to completely eaggerate things to defend Robinson, yes i agree Jones' little games he plays would be stupid as **** to do against a puncher like Robinson, but he was definatley beatable at MW.

You're using bull**** bodhi logic here. Eric Crumble fought more 4 rounders than Jones so would defeat him kind of thing. Roy Jones had the typical rise to the top resume building run at MW that every other fighter has in history. Then he topped it off by easily defeating a top 5 ATG MW in Hopkins. Both Hopkins and Jones are both practically natural Light Heavyweights and have reigned there also. Jones even had success at Heayweight. Robinson was an unstoppable beast and prime at Welterweight, beatable by many lesser P4P-wise fighters at MW. Jones is the much bigger fighter with the speed and reflexes at the higher weights that not many great Lightweight or Welterweights can match. Physically it is a very tough matchup for Robinson.

Hagler certainly doesn't do everything better than Basilio, even at 160.

I'd have the Robinson of the second Basilio fight over Hagler.

Rob is the best-ever WW who was also a great MW. Hagler however is the best MW ever. Marvin will turn up the heat and apply the necessary pressure as the fight intensifies. Not to say that Ray has absolutely no chance, but I like Hagler by late stoppage. He fought all the toughest MW's of his day and got them out, and should be able to do so with Robinson, who, again, is a great MW going up against the the ultimate MW.
