didnt use your list. i appreciate it but i used the two mentioned as they were stratified by weight class and nationality.

also you did not give me every fighter mentioned. we can do a comparison and you did give me a lot of names on their but i highly doubt you gave me every fighter.

thank you very much all the same. il make sure to add your name and double check the lists to see if i missed any.

Hill wasn't regarded as true champion though, Labarba was thought to be the World Champion and Hill was just another contender when they were signed to fight, and Johnny untimely died.

These days, most people think Benny Lynch was Scotland's first world boxing champion when the truth lies in an earlier and equally tragic tale.

In 1928 Edinburgh flyweight Johnny Hill was recognised by America's most powerful boxing authority – the New York State Commission – as the world champion.

Born in 1905 in Edinburgh's Brunswick Road only yards from the same Sparta Amateur Boxing Club that would produce world champion Ken Buchanan, Hill won the British, European and world titles in just 18 months, a record never equalled to this day by any other Scottish boxer.

Benny Lynch had to wait nearly two years until January 1937 to get unqualified American recognition as world flyweight champion. In contrast, Hill received the recognition from the NYSAC on 10 December 1928 just three and a half months after he had out-pointed American world flyweight title claimant "Newsboy" Brown over 15 rounds at London's Clapton Greyhound Stadium on 29 August 1928.

This is a fact confirmed by Johnny Hill's sole surviving brother, Alf, who has a letter in his Strathmiglo, Fife home on New York State Athletic Commission-headed newspaper dated 10 December 1928.

Written by Charles J Harvey, chairman of the then all-powerful body in charge of matters of American world title legitimacy, Harvey assures Johnny's father David that while there are American claimants to his son's world title they would not be recognised until they had taken part in an elimination tournament to box Johnny Hill.

Similarly, most Scottish and British newspapers in August 1928 hailed Johnny Hill as Scotland's first world champion.

i read the article. someone should make a wiki page on him too.

unfortunately he is not recognised as a world champ and whilst that can be disputed i need to include him on an alternative list along with other unrecognised champs.

dont do that to me dude. i know your good at this. i just need to make a list and clarify it. im not trying to argue. i want all legit world champs on there and all contested/disputed guys on there too. i just dont want ppl sending in their favorite guy from 1900s with a joke belt on him.

sorry to be a pain out of the three boxers i might of mentioned more than once :D i do think that joe bowker should be stuck on the champs list ,frankie neil was recognised as bantam champ after he beat harry forbes in san francisco in 03 then he came to london and lost in a match billed as for the bantam world tittle to bowker over 20 rounds in 04 in london. then it gets a little cloudy as bowker relinquished his tittle which jimmy walsh claimed state side but digger stanley cliamed this side of the pond. walsh and stanley met in america late in 05 and walsh won via a pts verdict

i dont think i have that much time  there are loads who lay claim to world tittles and to back up them with an arguement is impossible i might just post a list on here of all brit world tittle clamaints but i am not suggesting i know about them just that they have a listed claim say from 1889 to 1960.

obviously this will include all claims and boxers already on your list
