Who said that it was a disadvantage? Vitali was winning by near shut-out with an injury to boot. Have you watched Byrd-Ibeabuchi, Byrd-Tua? Byrd ducks very low in defense when he is pinned on the ropes. It is here that Vitali looked less than stellar. He was outboxing Byrd from the outside easily so it was hardly a disadvantage. His defense when he is pinned on the ropes and the other boxer has closed the distance to land combinations is what I'm talking about. It's how Ibeabuchi knocked him out, and Tua couldn't. Tyson would have killed him on the ropes with hooks and uppercuts.

Byrd's style was bad as it didn't make him look good in spots because, as you know, Vitali has never been outboxed in the ring.

He lost the first round to Herbie Hide but that's about it but then his opposition was kinda weak.

he might have controlled all of his fights but you saying on every scorecard he won every round from his debut to his title shot?

one of the most recent threads i did i believe. ironically he could have avoided the stoppage by grabbing as opposed to trying to slip punches against the ropes.

i dont believe his height played against him vs byrd, i think his power has just been over rated.

You are missing one round to Gomez and one more round if not two to the very tall Hoffman who landed on Vitali a fair bit.

That is 8-9 lost rounds that I can count off the top of my head, that VK lost.

Controlled? He pretty much beat the **** out of them since the opening bell. It wasn't even close. His earlier fights rarely went past the third round.

"ATG" Ricardo Lopez. Ruled the weakest division in boxing for a long time.

    Want another one?

I honestly can't think of any top fighter who had a full career who lost less rounds than Vitali...

...but yet I'm still not too impressed by that, because on the whole his opposition has been nothing short of diabolical.

Muhammad Ali lost many, many more rounds in his career, but I still rate him much, much higher as a heavyweight because he fought anyone and everyone.

When Roy was young and in his prime it was hard to beat him in a round. Of course that has changed but he was one of the greatest and i remember jones being unstoppable

that is the definition of controlled is it not?

ye i just looked at his record, a couple went to 5 prior to byrd and that is it. i still dont buy he won every round. by that im not disputing it, i just dont believe it till i see the scorecards.

tko 5 does not mean he won rounds 1-4. tko 2 does not mean he won round 1 etc.

well done for winning the most illogical post of the thread award.

You only fight what is in front of you, and in that Vitali has ducked no one.

    End of.

Ali was beaten 7 or 8 times in his career in reality but is held up as a great because he is in a afro american male, during the vietnam war. Nothing against that, but his achievements in the ring are not "the greatest" like the liberal american fans want to push.

Truth is, it is impossible to name the greatest, because people will not judge this objectively without the media being involved and other issues and reasons already mentioned.

Dont know if anyone has lost less rounds but Sven Ottke has lost less fights!!!

I thought the idea was to win fights.
Champions when faced with adversity find a way to win, VK when hes faced adversity hasnt
