hatton, haye does not really have a signature win over a elite champ the way hatton did over tszyu, collazo p4p is probly better than anyone haye has beat maybe paulie aswell

Not really Paulie is a horrible fighter with no substance and poor defence considering the type of style he aims to employ. I wouldn't champion that win, I think a lot of Haye's are better and as for Collazo I didn't think he beat Collazo.

It is true Haye does not have a star win yet. Good wins but nothing to cement him as a p4p fighter really though I'd argue he could well be. He really needs to beat a Klitschko if he wants to build some kind of legacy in British boxing.

Haye's got a bit to do on paper to match Hatton, Audley certainly won't help matters. He needs to start beating Adamek's, Povetkin's and Klitschko's really.

To be fair though Paulie at the time was considered Hatton's biggest threat to the 140 crown. Everyone knew he didn't have power but a fair few people backed Paulie to box circles around Hatton. Paulie's become a bit powder puff since and the division is a lot stronger now but Hatton gets credit for taking on a legit 140 champ, who wasn't considered shít (back then) by any margin and beat him fairly easily when there was questions whether Hatton was shot, with that performance he at least created the illusion that he was back to his near best...only to be unravelled 6 months later.

My only gripes with Ricky is the fact he didn't fight Witter when Witter was champ, and instead fought Juan Lazcano. And the ducking of Miguel Cotto to fight Carlos Maussa instead who Cotto had already beat, but to be fair Hatton would have lost again Cotto and would have lost out on his payday with Floyd.

I kind of wish Hatton had soaked up the Pacquiao loss and come straight back and fought one of the up and coming 140ers, if he'd have fought Bradley last November or so and lost it would have been certain that Hatton was past it, but now there's still the doubt that Hatton simply lost to the best boxer in the world on 2 occasions. Of course Hatton's done now, being inactive for this long, balooning up in weight and his drinking/drugs addiction. I just wish we'd have had the chance to know for sure whether Ricky, could have bounced back after the Pac loss and remained a key player at 140.

    Hatton's 'big' wins

Tyszu - cheated his way to an ugly win over a near retired fighter. Massive home cooking involved.
Paulie - Solid win over a decent fighter.
Urango - Gatekeeper level fighter as best. Yet Hatton was holding on like an octopus the last few rounds.
Collazo - Most thought Hatton lost the fight.

    Haye big wins
Maccarinelli - A lof og the gloss from that win has since been wiped off. Some of us saw back then that Macca was a protected glass-jawed journeyman.
Mormeck - Good win over a decent fighter.

Of those wins then its Hatton, IMHO. Whatever negative spin people try to put on it theres a lot of wins over fighters who were either current belt holders, former belt holders or would go on to be belt holders at 140. ie. solid wins over top fighters around at the time.

The Collazo and Urango wins look better now than they did at the time with what those 2 fighters went on to do.

I'd say Hatton quite easily to be honest.

Even if you take the Tszyu win out he'd still be ahead.... plus he actually dared to face the best fighters available.

If Haye beats Wlad the debate opens up, but for me he'd have to do it twice to make it close.

It's very similar really, hard to seperate them. I'd go for Hatton, just. But seeing those 6 fighters as the best on Hatton's resume shows me how weak it really was for a supposed HOF elect.

Hatton overachieved as a pro with his lack of ability, so he should have NO chance if that's the case.
