in fairness i think allot of people are taking the hatton from the pac fight..the hatton from 4 years before that would have been a far more formiable challenge.

This isn't a mismatch because Pryor isn't as good as Mayweather/Pacquaio and his style suits Ricky more. Ricky's chin/workrate/speed almost matches Pryor, who is the better boxer but not really a brutal puncher imo and his defense could be sloppy letting Ricky land his shots, Ricky is the stronger man. I'd pick Pryor to win an 8-4 UD in a war against a 2005 Prime Hatton

Hatton's chin was his chin. Floyd took him out ... Paq deastroyed him. Pryor was as fast, stronger and a harder hitter than Paq at 140. He would ice Hatton.

Can't think of many worse match-ups for Hatton.

    Your argument falls down there.

Hatton is better than most of the fighters Pryor beat though...and some of those guys werent exactly obliterated.

Aaron wins and brutally but has more trouble than people seem willing to admit on here.

I don't think so, look at Ricky from 2000-2005, he beats his opponents with greater speed and a phenomenal workrate. Lets also not forget his bodpunching. He showed himself to have the better speed than Tyszu and his workrate beat the fight out of him. His chin against Tyszu looked stella and Tyszu hits harder than Pryor.

Pryors better but its no easy fight

Not going to be a pretty sight. Hatton has a frustrating style though, he's rough and tumble and he could possibly make the opening couple of rounds frustrating for Pryor in that he'll be trying to grab and tie his arms up on the inside, hit and hold, lean in and try and bully him around.

That isn't going to happen for long though, he's not going to back him up and when Pryor gets into his rhythm, he'll be the one finding the shots. He'll be able to take Hatton's best should he need to, but defensively he's a bit under-rated and I don't think Hatton will land much clean before Pryor's superior skills, punch placement and speed see him landing the power punches that matter and eventually stop a bloodied and battered Hatton in around 5 or 6.

I never saw Ricky walk through the kind of shots Pryor did against Arguello.

Kostya landed a handful of good shots, which an amazingly well conditioned and determined Ricky took well. But for the most part he was starved of the kind of punching room that he needed to be effective.

Hatton's chin is good but it just was never consistently cracked until he faced Floyd...then it didnt look so crash hot. Urango and Collazo also had him in a fair bit of bother..Magee had him a bit hurt to.
Pryor went down a few times but that was more his defensive inconsistencies, rather than issues with his durability.

Ricky had a great work ethic...But Aaron threw a lot more punches IMO. You have to factor into "workrate" the wrestling and clinching that Ricky does moreso than Pryor did. But overall I think Pryor was more intense and had the better workrate.

Maybe Ricky isnt all that far out of his depth in the speed department..handspeed that is. His was not that bad really. But Az had the footspeed and reflexes departments covered most definitely.

I think Hatton is a pretty good fighter and can cause some LWW's real problems but Pryor is not one of them. Hatton will be a sitting duck and get taken out early IMO.

I think someone like Locche has hell with Hatton though.

Why do you guys always do 12 rds.? 15 was the distance for Pryor's time and the majority of history and should be now. I think Flatten goes out like Lennex Blackmore and then joins the Great Ptyor for a snortfest, which he also loses.:cheers

I don't disagree too much on most of these points. Hattons wrestling as ugly as it looked was pretty effective. His footspeed earlier in his career was very good but the drink binging got the better of him after a while. Pryor did throw more too, and Ricky was hurt plenty of times also against Tackie if I remember right but against Tyszu was 1 of those nights where a fighter walks through fire and he did to be fair to him.

Pryor beats him viciously and stops him in 6.
