Depends on how the individual defines his identity. Any other answer is bollocks. Most would consider themselves Irish, I should imagine.

 

I'm always amused when people adopt this mentality about their country, the sports team, whatever. As to give it some extra signifigance, when the reality is most people don't care, haven't considered the issue, couldn't give a ****. A small nations desperate struggle for relevancy perhaps? It's better to be "hated" than "irrelevant" I suppose.

Just so happens that virtually all of the good fighters out of "Nothern Ireland" at the moment are Irish (Frampton is the notable exception)
