why is lucian bute rated so high?

His resume right now certainly does not measure up to somebody's like Froch's but other than the 12th round with Andrade in the first fight, not only is he undefeated, he has barely even lost any rounds in any of his fights.

 

Bute is rated #1 at SMW more by default than anything really.
Kessler was rightfully #1 but lost to Ward. Froch lost to Kessler. Now both Kessler and Froch have far superior resumes than Bute, but cant be rated above Ward as Ward has beaten Kessler. But Bute does have an overall better resume than Ward, even though its not brilliant either.
Wards resume is based on beating an unwell Kessler, and Miranda and Green, which isnt great, and Butes has Bika, Andrade twice, Miranda, Zuniga, Brinkley, Joppy & Berrio, which overall is better.

 

Green woul've gone life and death with Brinkley not Knock him down 3 times. He lost to Miranda . He would've gotten the beating of his life against Bika Andrade and Berrio.

 

Brinkley, Miranda, Andrade, Bika and Berrio are all elite SMWs, pardon me. :rofl

 

I believe Bute is untested, but shows great promise.

 

I agree he is overrated and have been wondering if I was the only one who felt this way. I can easily name 25+ fighters that are unquestionably deserving of higher placement on any P4P list. Pull up Kessler's and Bute's resume and Kessler is so clearly the better fighter career-wise (obviously) but in the moment as well. There is no way Bute could rank higher than Kessler!

 

Kessler and Froch should be ranked above him. In saying that I think he would completly outbox both of them. Now would he have beat Kessler of 5 years ago, most likely not.

We all know just how pathetic Ring Magazines rating is, just look at their lightweight division where they rank a currently suspended fighter who is 0-2-1 in his last three fights (although some arguable, still' a cheater)

You are wondering if you are the only one thinking Bute is overrated? People like you start a thread each day saying Bute is overrated. You should read the other posts, that way, I would not have to read the same dumb things day after day.

 

Bailey said it was overall better. He didn't say they were elite SMW. The way you haters twist the reality is pathetic. I suppose it means you're short of arguments. Look at Ward's resume, except Kessler (who had eyes problems and wasn't able to train properly before facing Ward), and if you think it's better than Bute's resume, that only means either you are new to boxing, or aren't able to judge things properly.
