Of course a freak accident could happen,but I believe in 10 bouts,the guys who have experience in their sport would win the most.

 

Also one thing about power there are people who hit harder than tyson in mma with kicks and knees,this is the bare bone hitting no protection at all.

you may be correct that Vasquez does just dump him and ground and pound or submit..however, your argument that "boxers get their asses handed to them..." is kind of bull****....their has been almost no prime good boxers who have done mma. Toney was totally shot didnt really train all that great (i dont buy for a second that he trained hard..if you belive it, then your a idiot) and he had the worst boxing style possible...a natural middleweight..everything bad for mma. Mercer was old and shot and did not train for any grappling at all..and still went 1-1 in mma. Other fighters who have done it have been totally shot. Its a bit unfair to say that because a few almost 50 year old guys with brain damage have lost that a top prime boxer stands no chance.

 

yea but tysons punches would also be harder (i know their is some sports science **** that claims its the same..its not..i have been hit by the same guys with 16 oz gloves, 10 oz gloves, and mma gloves..its all allot different.

 

You are right.....As much as it pains me to admit as a die-hard boxing fan, boxing is a rather limited form of combat. Although it is a very effective limited form of combat, it is limited. It bugs me how a good MMA fighter can take down a boxer! lol.......But something about rolling around on the ground, kicking, grappling, etc. that seems like such a cheesy way to win a fight. Boxing, aka punching, has always seemed like a much more satisfying way to win a fight; it just seems more "old school" and manly to me......But it's just my opinion. I know I'd rather knock someone out cold than submit them in a choke or incapacitate them with a kick......

 

And you're also one of the rare die-hard boxing that phrases this in such a way I can completely agree with you, even though I prefer MMA, I clearly see your point. I personally love the multiple ways to choke, or get out out of chokes, let's not forget submission defense is an art too, and I really enjoy the kicking and the unorthodox stand up striking (superman punch, spinning back fist etc.) really the only part I dislike about MMA is when there is WAY too much Lay'n'Pray wrestling, I enjoy wrestling when it's a tool used by a well rounded fighter, not by someone that can't do anything else.

its not rocket science. mma > boxing at mma. boxing > mma at boxing. whoever has a gun > who doesnt at streetfighting.

in boxing tyson rips through cains non existant gaurd and kos him in one.

in mma cain rips through tysons non existant wrestling guard and beats him half to death on the floor or subs him or simply lnps him.
