I liked him a lot before the handwraps controversy.

I like brawler/high activity fighters in general.

What I like about Filipino fans is there enthusiasm for boxing...it really is a boxing mad country...well actually it could be that its just a fighting mad country but I don't follow the other fight sports so I can't tell. But yes they love a good punch up and like skilled fighters. True they go a little nuts about their own country's fighters....probably more nuts then most....but who doesn't...I mean with manny they probably go more nuts then most countries but if your whole country was poor as **** and one of your country men, who grew up as poor as they come, made it to the top by knocking the **** out of everyone in his way...I think you'd love the guy too.

It is not only the Filipinos who nuthug athletes who have spectacular careers.

You could see it during Jordan's amazing career. I remeber how people were polarized on who is more spectacular between him and Julius Dr. J Erving. Even today, his fans still debate about him realtive to Bryant, etc.

If the Internet was widely available during Tyson and Jordan's career, then I am sure they would get more nuthuggers too.

ESBers represent not even 1 per cent of those who watch and follow boxing. And most of those who constantly post (probably more than 2000 post in a year [?]) are the most ardent fan of a single person. Don't be fooled by *****s who think they know boxing. Most of them just follow Dawson, Bradley and similar fighters, basically along a particular ethnicity.

It is not wrong though because that comes as natural. People gravitate towards people of their same kind. Not a racist thing but just natural process.

solid post. Ignorant people think Pac is some sort of God. That's ridiculous. It isn't North Korea and people think in the philippines Pac is shown 24/7 like Kim Jung Il.

Why doesn't HBO show clips of Nonito Donaire training there? Or at least mention him along with Rios and other fighters. Doesn't he have an upcoming fight?

FMA has no fixed technique. You can pretty much incorporate anything you like as long as you can pull it off. Beside a wrist twist is a wrist twist, just because someone threw a punch its doesnt mean they are doing boxing.

But yeah whatever it is, it could well be "borrowed" from Aikido.
