Forgot to add with Calzaghe vs. Jones jr. I think Joe carried Roy, especially in the later rounds. That's partly what all that showboating was about. Joe and Roy like eachother, they get on well and Joe decided to clown on him rather than hurt him IMO.
I agree. I was actually very impressed with his performance vs Abdulaev. He picked his shots excellently and broke him down efficiently.

Luis Folledo vs Laszlo Papp. Convinced me that Papp probably was not good enough to win a world title at his age, and that he would have struggled a bit as a pro anyway. I wonder if Khurtsidze models himself after Papp a bit?....

He generally doesn't get props for his body of work at 140. The reason i mentioned those three names is because everyone keeps going on about how he was 'chinny' at light welter. Those three were decent bangers and he faced them at a good time in their respective careers. One of the reasons he took on Abdulaev was to avenge his loss in the amatuers, kind of like Shane with Vernon (RIP). That's when you know a guy has a fighters mentality. Cotto under better circumstances in his younger days, would've been an even better boxer puncher.
I just watched the last couple of rounds between Calzaghe and Eubank. Don't know why i decided to just view the last few rounds, but i just came across them and it's the part of the fight that always most interested me anyway. Eubank came on like a bull in the championship rounds and one could argue that if this was the old days, Eubank maybe, perhaps could've stopped Joe in the 14th/15th. This fight kind of made them both look good tbh. Eubank did great stepping in at short notice and Calzaghe got a gut check and came through the 12 rounds to win a tough test. Chris really stepped on the gas in the later rounds and coursed Joe a few problems, that huge right hand off the ropes from Eubank, at the final bell looked to have had Calzaghe out. Very interesting fight for me. Btw, With a middle name like Livingstone, i can't help but recall Bramble: 2 brutal fights vs. Boom Boom Mancini.
He was meant to fight Steve Collins for the WBO strap, but Collins retired rather then take the fight, so Chris stepped in at short notice to face Joe for the vacant title.
I actually re-watched the Torres fight yesterday. Yeah he got rocked a few times but that fight was a great example of his strength and unreal body-punching, the way he consistently broke Torres down with body shots was very impressive.
