a lot of those right hands that looked like Clottey were landing were being picked off. Just watch more closely.

The only times lately that I really see him getting hit consistent is when he squares himself up and lets his opponent tee off on him.

Mark my words, someone with a good consistent jab would stabilize Manny's in and out motion, simply because of the position he holds his hands, Manny only protects himself to what comes around the side(hooks), now no one is saying he does not have a defense, just that there are certain aspects he could, should work on.

Really OP? You want to give pointers to one of the most sought after coaches in the game today? Just as I wouldn't presume to tell a master welder how to weld, or teacher how to teach, you probably shouldn't be offering advice to a craftsman like Roach on how to train fighters.

He does parry punches, but is obviously not the best at it.

I'd prefer it if he utilized that brilliant head movement more, just like he did in the Oscar fight. Hit and move, hit and move, hit and move. Don't stay in one spot more than a couple of seconds.

That's true. In his last two fights he's been doing that all too often. Margarito doesn't need inviting in, Manny. So you best drop that ****, and not remain in one place.

All you got to ask yourself is, does what I said hold any validity? I think Roach is an extremely good coach, but I dare say somethings get overlooked, otherwise Manny might be as technically gifted as Mayweather by now.

I think emmanuel just simply does not give a ****. If you watch him throw his jab, he'll often drop his left hand out of position. Now compared to his stablemate Amir Khan, Khan does an excellent job at keeping his idle hand glued to his face when shooting jabs.

Trainers can teach a lot of things, but it's up to the fighter to apply it in combat.

mm I don't tihnk so. Manny also gives a lot of head movent. Manny was countering cotto's and Hoya's jab all night.

Manny is at his best when he's moving his head , staying on his toes, and using his athletic ability. When he stands around and squares himself up he invites punches, but I believe he does it on purpose. He likes to fight and go toe to toe like that. That'll be a mistake against Margarito though.

This is what Manny needs to do , and this is when he's at his best:

DLH was generally not getting off first with it, he was waiting to counter, which got him into all kinda of troubles because of his aged reflexes, which were on display against Forbes, which is why Roach took the fight.

There was a quote awhile back from roach about how emmanuel makes a lot of mistakes, but no one notices since they aren't paying attention.

It has moar to do with emmanuel than it does roach.

This is actually true. Manny has very underrated defense. His guard is very good, when he uses it. He slips punches well enough, and spins out of trouble like a madman. Thing is, he's still an offensive fighter, and coming forward, you're gonna get hit no matter who you are.
