If Margarito told the truth about the pads, then his trainer must have put them in so many times that Margarito became so used to them that it would feel unusual NOT to have them in, or he's lying. I don't think he's a terrific actor so it has to be the former, IMO.
If it was that subtle and unnoticeable, then it's amazing how Nazim just by looking at what was being wrapped, managed to spot something wrong. But Margarito who's having his hands wrapped and feeling everything, didn't? Although Anthony in another thread, said Margarito did feel something a little strange, but didn't speak up.
Nazim's job is to inspect everything at that point, and he's made fighters rewrap before. There's a chance he would have said something regardless just to play mind games with Margarito and his camp. Likewise, the commission, who's job it is to inspect the wraps also, didn't see anything wrong with the wrapping, so we can rule out any slab, cement, or hammer. Margarito probably had his headphones on, not paying any special attention to his hands being wrapped. Mosley has gone on record to say it's possible he wouldn't know, and numerous trainers have also gone on record to suggest that, if they wanted to, they could slip something into their fighters wraps without them knowing. There's enough reasonable doubt for me. Simple as that.
another stupid comment by someone that knows jack**** about what happened.....NAZ DIDNT SEE SOMETHING WRONG, HE FELT IT......IDIOT
Then it's a ****ed up situation for Margarito either way, based on what you say. Because if it's something he's never noticed before like you suggest, then all of his previous wins must come into serious doubt. If he didn't know/feel something 'out of the ordinary' was being inserted in the Mosley fight, then what's to say he didn't know/feel something 'out of the ordinary' for the Cotto, Cintron etc fights? The threadstarter is bang on.
****ed up situation? Of course. I'm of the opinion that an insert wasn't responsible for beating Cotto; a heart, a chin, and a gas tank was. I'm also of the opinion that an insert that went unnoticed by the commission wasn't responsible for beating Cintron; a heart, a chin, and a gas tank was. Hey, you're entitled to your opinion, but there's reasonable doubt as far as I'm concerned. Margarito showed the same level of punching power as he always had done in his last fight, where he knocked a tough guy down in the very first round, and after a year absence. An insert doesn't have the capacity to improve a fighters stamina and ability to take a punch...as far as I know.
Calm down. Well if Nazim could feel it, why couldn't Tony? But let's just say he was oblivious to what was going in his hands. It's still not a good thing, is it? Like the threadstarter has said, Tony was probably unaware of illegal wraps in his previous fights too; thus bringing his previous wins into doubt. Face it, the man can't be defended here.
He's lying, that's been his trainer for ages, they're like father and son. You think the man had 42 professional fights and his trainer all of a sudden decided to tarnish his whole career by throwing in ingredients for plaster of paris without his knowledge, even though Margarito just brutally knocked out Miguel Cotto supposedly without plaster. That just gives more proof to the fact he cheated against Cotto, why would you try to improve something that isn't broken, unless of course it is broken and he needs stones to beat top guys. He would feel the plaster get real, Nazim said a ****ing block fell out as well ha. "what he think us stupid?"
His gas, heart and chin isn't in doubt here. I've always respected and loved Tony for those attributes. But let's be real , those don't dispel the illegal wraps and incredibily high possibility that he's used them before. You can of course believe what you choose to believe, and continue to have a pro-Margarito outlook on it all. But based on common sense, the majority of observors don't see it that way and he will forever be remembered for being the cheat he is. And rightfully so.
If Margarito didn't know that Capetillo was loading his gloves for the Mosley fight, then how does he know if Capetillo wasn't loading them for other fights?
I don't know if your last point is true. I think people will judge Margarito by the rest of his career. If he can stop people the way he did Cintron and Cotto then you might have to give him the benefit of the doubt. If he can't put on the damage he did before then people will assume his gloves were loaded before.
