When people deminish Floyd's Welterweight record is it a sign of how good he is?

cold hard welterweight facts people dont like

    6) Shane Mosley - 4 months shy of 39
(yeah well he beat margaritos ass right??? ) well, Remember Muhammad Ali schooling
Leon Spinks in fight #2 to regain the title for the 3rd time? about the same amount of time went by and he fought Larry Holmes...and didnt win a round... Holmes gets NO crdit for beating Ali just like Floyd deserves NONE for beating an old Shane
    :-(

    :happy

    4) Ricky Hatton- lifetime junior welterweight. had 1 fight a welter and got his ass kicked by Collazo :nut

    :huh

    2) Zab Judah- not many guys lose a fight and get rewarded with a floyd match up...(maybe manny should lose and floyd might fight him) floyd is just another guy that beats up judah...his win is sandwiched in the middle of zabs 2 wins in 7 fight streak :good

    1. Everybody wanted to see a tszyu vs mayweather match up. Too bad Tszyu got handled by Hatton. Sharmba was a tune up. Every fighter is allowed that when they are fighting at a new weight division. Big shocker there.

2/3 Zab was the undisputed welterweight champ at the before he lost to Baldomir. So let me think.:think He beat the man who was considered the top guy at Welterweight(at the time.) And he beat the man who beat the man. Plus he made 8 million and become the lineal Welterweight champion himself. Well, I can't find fault in that.

    4. Hatton did get his ass kicked by Collazo. But they still gave him the win. So it is what it is. Plus he came up to challenge Floyd. He was the #2 P4P. Floyd accepted and you can add the fact that Hatton was one of the top draws in boxing. :think:thumbsup

    5. Smart business. JMM gave the #1 P4P all he could handle in 2 fights that many thought he won. So after a year lay off he takes on the #2 P4P best fighter in the world. Schools him. Now people don't know if Manny can beat Floyd. Smart move? Yep

    6. Lets see. When Floyd was challenging Shane to a fight. Shane said he had a tooth ache. So Floyd is to blame for that?:nono

Nah, Castillo and Corrales are ok wins(but not great), that's it. I am not really impressed with Corrales and Castillo.

You believe Shane would have got that fight? You realise who he would have had to compete against to get that fight? You realise the friction that would have caused?

What? Are you comparing Shane Mosley - the number one ranked welterweight, ranked top 5 pound-for-pound - to the version of Ali who lost to Spinks? I'm more surprised he won the rematch, he was way, way, way past it.

Also, are you comparing Mosley's win over Margarito - again, number one ranked welterweight and in pound-for-pound contention, to a win over Spinks?

The point is, Shane proved via his destruction of Margarito that he still had something left. Ali didn't, and no win over Leon Spinks was ever going to prove that.

The first two points are hard fact and you can't argue with, however, got his arse kicked by Hatton? Close, contested fight. I believe I had Hatton by a point or perhaps two, hardly 'got his ass kicked'.

Floyd also made $8 million for fighting Baldomir if I am correct. Not to mention he got the chance to fight for the welterweight championship of the world along with that.

Are you forgetting that Tszyu lost to Hatton 5 months prior to that? Mayweather did actually call out Tszyu once when he was at 140 I believe but wanted the WBC belt before. I can't remember what fight it was after though.

If these wins aren't impressive to you I don't think anything could be to you. Corrales was running through everyone at the time and his record was 33-0. Never loss and never even been knocked down. Same thing for Castillo. He was easily the top guy at lightweight at the time when Floyd went up in weight to fight him. You add the fact that Floyd fought injured and that equals=impressive to me.:thumbsup

Oh believe me. I know. But it doesn't excuse the fact that he missed out on a perfect opportunity.:patsch It is what it is.

He was never going to get that fight was he? The fact is he had no real chance to fight Mosley until recently. When he called him out as a lightweight Mosley was getting ready to challenge Oscar. This might prove that "all roads lead to Mayweather" isn't 100% correct. I'd side with "all roads lead to Oscar" :deal

Doesn't change a thing. The fight was there. Shane opted to do other things. His chose. But it doesn't make Floyd completely at fault for why this fight didn't happen a long time ago like so many make it out to be. Does it?:nono
