Who should Lucian Bute fight in his next match?

I think its pretty clear that Bute is the no 1 fighter in this division , Ward no 2 and then its a dog fight amongst the rest !!!

Id liken it to Tim Bradley being seen as the best 140 lb'er in the world , still not confirmed but widely beleived ..........................

 

There were a bunch of articles on that matter. You can google for them yourself. He refused at least twice. Bute wanted to fight Stieglitz but was stuck with Miranda.

Well, see, after Abraham went up to super middleweight, he managed to stick it hard to your fat, ******ed, inbred mom without weeping or throwing up - and that is such a massive achievement that I believe he should be ranked very high.
Most people aren't even able to look at a picture of her or her ******-like offspring without retching and losing their belief that life has a higher purpose.

Also, Abraham has more wins on his record, he's held his belt for a long, long time, and I believe he may be able to defeat Bute if they were ever to meet in the ring.

 

Bute's team have made there biggest offer ever to fight Stieglitz something over 1,000,000 and they refuse! they even made two offer if i remember before the Brinkley fight!

 

Your ranking kind of strange . You put Bute in 6th but he his the only one with Kessler who beat 2 guys in your top 9 :huh

 

Abraham's record at MW is not impressive at all. It is, and by far, weakest than Bute's resume. At SMW, he beat a shot Taylor and lost to Dirrell. I don't think it is enough to be in front of Bute.

 

Dawson has the right to fight before the rematch against Pascal. I'm not sure his team (I'm not talking about him) wants him to fight Bute before Pascal. It would have to be at a catchweight, because Bute clearly doesn't want to go to LHW for the moment.

Would be my choice but I don't believe it's possible for March.

 

Yeah, I know. But ranking IS strange. The main reason he is where he is, is that I have a hard time imagining him beating any of the five I've ranked above him.

 

So, basically, the best option we can collectively come up with is Pavlik ,which may not actually be an option if he decides to stay at 60' like I suspect he will.

Martinez has indicated in interviews that 168 is too big. Williams is trying to get Mayweather in the ring at 150 - he's not an option.

Dawson is tied up with Pascal until at least the end of next year. I guess there is Cloud or Erdei at 175. Maybe those are his best options if Pavlik remains at 160.

 

The only thing about your rankings that is off is that Kessler and Dirrell are out indefinitely. So, really, you have Ward, Arbaham, Froch, and then Bute.

Recall when Kessler came back after the Calzaghe loss, he fought how many B-level fighters before taking on good competition? Sartison, Hausler, Perdomo, I think that's it. Given that his injury may force him to retire or at least be out for a year, and the likelihood he'll need a couple of tune-ups before another big fight, and he will be two years older, my money is that Kessler is done as a top flight fighter.

Same goes with Dirrell. Dirrell lost against Froch and was knocked out by Abraham on a DQ. My money is that he needs a year off and then also a few tune-ups before we see him against good competition.

Froch has done more against top super middleweights than Bute has, there is no debate. Ward's win against Kessler is better than any of Bute's even though Bute looked better beating Miranda down. And Bute's wins over Andrade are better than any other Ward win. Abraham only has one win at 168 and it was against a shot Jermain Taylor. If you are judging by your person feelings on how he would fare against those three, I hear you, but if it was on accomplishments in the ring, only Ward and Froch should be ranked above him.

 

My imagination sees Bute beat many of these fighters.

 

at this point the Ring rankings are justified. but after ward-bike and froch-abraham, ward (if he wins, and bika can only win by ko/tko) will clearly have a better resume than bute and will be ranken as 1st contender by the ring magazine; the winner froch/abraham will be ranked second and third will be bute;
for now bute's best and available opponents are pavlik and martinez;for bute the best case scenario would be a unification bout against a very unlikely WBA champion, sakio bika.

 

I agree with you on all points. A unification bout against Bika is indeed unlikely. That would be a shock to see Bika win.

 

I still have Bute at #1 at the moment. If Ward beats Bika, he passes Bute. Either Froch or Abraham would need to win two more fights to pass him. My rationale for Bute at #1 is that his resume is a lot deeper than the other top guys, other than Kessler, even though he doesn't have that elite win. However, had I thought Andrade deserved the win over Bute or that Froch really beat Dirrell, then all of that would get pretty shuffled around. There isn't a big difference between #1 and #5, and all of those guys are probably in my top 30 P4P.
