You've misunderstood my point. Your comment was that "an insert can't improve stamina or punch resistance," and my response was that the knowledge of the inserts could increase them to a degree. No question if you are hit with a knockout blow, no amount of confidence in the inserts will help you. Being knocked out cold is a totally different situation than what is being discussed. It is in the area of absorbing painful punishing shots and not wilting that can be enhanced by mindset.

Look at Morales' face in his third fight with Pacquiao after the final knockdown. He wasn't knocked out, he simply couldn't justify taking any more punishment because he didn't see the point. There was nothing he could gain from it in terms of his chances of winning. That, to me, is how Margarito looked against Mosley.

My analogy about cleaning toilets was simply to show how suffering through the same miserable conditions could be tolerated differently depending on what a person knows is waiting at the end of it.

Perhaps an analogy involving physical pain would suit this situation better. Suppose one of your buddies decides to tase you. What would your reaction be? I'm guessing you'd scream and attempt to remove the darts as soon as possible. Now suppose he then offers you some serious money to see if you can endure the voltage for 10 seconds. If you took him up on the challenge, isn't it reasonable to assume you might be able to withstand the pain a bit longer? There is likely a limit to how long your body could be shocked before you lose consciousness or voluntary control, but I think it's safe to assume that if you make your mind up to withstand it as long as possible, you'd last longer than you would without the financial incentive.

Do you think Margarito would have ever been able to take the punishment inflicted by Mosley without eventually wilting? Mosley hit Margarito more consistently with flush power shots than any previous opponent had ever done, and that's why he wilted, not because he didn't have calcium and sulphur in his handwraps. There's only so much the human body can take, and Mosley was landing sickening shots in every round, for 10 rounds.

    Not at all.

Morales could have gotten up, but decided not to. Margarito would have gotten up, but wasn't allowed to because the referee waved the fight off.

 That's a better one, but I still don't liken these sort of circumstances to that of a professional prizefight. Margarito takes punches for a living and has done since he was a boy.

If I had a long history of being tasered, it's reasonable to assume I might be able to withstand the pain a bit longer than someone who has never been tasered before.

I certainly don't think Tony could absorb those Mosley bombs indefinitely (with or without special wraps). Nor do I think he could have endlessly eaten Cotto's punches. They obviously will take their toll. The point is if in taking those punches, Tony knows that he is putting money in the bank with the shots he's landing on Shane, it will ultimately be a matter of attrition. Who hits the threshold first and loses the will the continue? If Tony had previously been relying on doctored wraps to enhance the damage he was inflicting on his opponents, it makes sense that without them he'd be less likely to be able to withstand punishing shots with no hope of getting his own work in.

Capetillo has already admitted using the knuckle pads in practice with several fighters but he also made it clear that these knuckle pads where not plaster and where not hard. In court when Margarito was asked to pick up the pad and describe it, he said "the pad didnt look dangerous or illegal at all". When Mosley was asked about the pad, he also said that it was not hard. other former boxers in the hearing also referred to the pads as soft. The prosecutors claimed that the pad was meant to harden but it never really did. The old blood stain only confirms Mosley's testimony of a "soft knuckle pad" was never meant to "harden".

Hey how where Margarito's hands rewrapped three times and why was Richardson and GBP lawyers given possession of the pads

Everybody knew about the knuckle pads because Capetillo used them on sore hands all the time and Capetillo has already admitted it but he also made it clear that these knuckle pads where not plaster and where not hard. Naseem Richardson caught wind of it just like he did against Trinidad and was thus able set the conspiracies.

Another question is how where Margarito's hands rewrapped three times and why was Richardson and GBP lawyers given possession of the pads

Very interesting discussion, I didn't realize Marg had a hard camp coming in as well.

I can see how he believes he didn't do anything wrong. He's a simple guy who believes in his manager and trainer and wouldn't believe they do anything wrong by him, which they didn't.

That said, its definitely not the first time, I think thats clear.

You thought wrong. I don't think there is anything clear about this case.

he could be telling the truth.. cause i remember they interviewed all these trainers a few months ago, including roach, and asked if theres a possibility of tony not knowing.. and almost all of them said yes.. so i took their word for it since they're pro trainers.. tony could have not known about it. but come fightnight, we'll see if he still needs those pads..

Yep and if my trainer put a soft knuckle pad glove I wouldnt think anything of it. In fact I have sparred with soft knuckle pads whenever my hand hurts which is quite often and they also protect my opponent

Do you even know what a knucklepad is?

Its a folded up piece of gauze thats placed on top of the knuckles .

The trainer first begins the wrapping session with wrapping guaze around your wrist and hands......
There comes a point about halfway through the wrapping session where the trainer stops and places a folded up piece of gauze made to look like a small little pillow.......its called a knucklepad and thats placed right on top of a fighters knuckles, and then more gauze is wrapped around to hold that knucklepad into place.

Lets make one thing clear here. Most fighters are not going to ask their trainer to place that knucklepad in their hand so that they can feel it and gain thier approval.

Now I'm only asking one thing from you are anyone that doubts Margarito's contention that he did'nt notice anything unusual when those knucklepads were places on top of his knuckles.....
If Shane Mosley who got a chance to take the knucklepads with his hands and feel them with his fingers (something Margarito never had a chance to do) said that they felt normal to him....what makes you contend that Margarito should have felt and known that something was'nt right with the knucklepads and the way his wraps felt?????

Everytime I've posed this question, its been simply avoided and disregarded by those condemning Margarito.

If Mosley who took the knucklepads with his hands could'nt tell the difference, why would you say Margarito should have????:deal

Margarito did get a chance to feel the pads in court but it was months later and after GBP illegally passed them all over the place. Margarito said in court that the pads looked harmless and it was this statement and his refusal to deny his earlier statements of "not knowing" that made the prosecution decide that Margarito was not rehabilitated and thus still not eligible to fight.

yes even a simple gauze pad is illegal in boxing because it involves taping a few times over the knuckle but most boxers have done it and when caught it never gets blown out of proportion. My knuckle pads our firm and that is how I bought them but i guarantee that they not only slow my punch down but the extra padding also protects my opponent

    Maracho, you are simply incorrect.

When Margarito got the chance to hold and feel the knucklepads at the hearing, his statement was that it felt outside the norm, and that in his opinion, yes it could have done damage to Mosley.

I'm one that has given Margarito the benefit of the doubt as there is'nt any evidence that he knew about it.
......but having a chance to feel the pads with his own fingers and hand, the conclusion from Margarito was that felt harder than a normal pad.

......this is where people get it confused....the knucklepad by most who felt it was felt to be stiff, but not plaster hard as many in the media have described.
