Hopkins-Calzaghe scorecard with notes

How many 10-10 rounds do you have? Your scoring is terrible.

 

Hopkins won that fight.

 

As much as I would like to give it to him, no he didn't.

 

You scored 117-113 Hopkins. I scored 117-112 Calzaghe.
We agree on 8 rounds out of 12.
Overall Calzaghe DID land MORE solid shots on Hopkins and alot of Hopkins shots that people claim, were also glancing (not all by any means) but alot.
We disagree on rounds 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7.
Round 3 Calzaghe pressed the action and landed more. Neither got caught with anything heavy. Calzaghe round for me
Round 4 Same as above for me. Calzaghe round
Round 5 same as above, and Calzaghe lands the cleaner harder shots
Round 6 Closer round. I think Calzaghe won the round, but could see and argument for Hopkins if pushed
Round 7 I felt Joe clearly won round 7 but said even to give Hopkins some points. Hopkins only landed one solid shot in a round along with a headbutt, in a round Calzaghe controlled the other 2:50 of.

I still scored it 117-112 for Calzaghe, but in trying to give Hopkins rounds of 6 & 7 which I dont think he won, the best I could give Hopkins is 115-114 Calzaghe, but in truth Calzaghe should have been a 117-111 victor to me, but 117-112 is what I gave to Calzaghe

 

Well no offence but the fact that you had the score cards that wide shows how biased you are towards hopkins. I scored the fight 115-113 Calzaghe but dont get me wrong it was a close fight and when SD's happen even if hopkins got the official decision i wouldnt moan or whine because its a close fight and different people judge fights in different ways however you basicly scored hopkins winning nearly every damn round. im sorry but this is the kinda thing that puts me of boxing

 

Dude i got nothing against you if you scored it for hopkins, it wasnt Calzaghe best performance and he did fight amateurish at times but at the end of the day he also did the best anyone could with the way hopkins was fighting. just the fact anyone would score it that wide for either fighter shows bias in what was a close ( albeit boring ) fight

There was polls ran at the time and Calzaghe, the offical victor, was recognised as such by the ESB boxing community.

And Calzaghe deserves immense credit for this win. According to Compubox numbers, he hit Hopkins more times than any other opponent, overcame adversity in the intial rounds to adapt to one of the most notoriously difficult fighters to out think, and reduced this great fighter to rolling about the floor pleading for a breather from the relentless Calzaghe attack.

The win looked even better in the context of Hopkins humiliating Kelly Pavlik who IMO has never been the same since then.

A great win for Calzaghe and a deserved one.

 

Calzaghe did what he had to do against an ultra defensive minded dirty fighter. Calzaghe should get credit for thinking on his feet and changing tactics, you can't defend yourself for 2.59 of a round throw one good punch and expect to win the round, Hopkins lost but the real loser for this fight was boxing

 

Some of us are at work. You should try it, it quite rewarding

I would love to sit at my desk writing paragraphs on why hopkins lost the fight, but I don't have that luxury.

 

This clown joins in july, telling the world that his cousin introduced him to the forum. And look at him telling people they should watch another sport.
