Calzaghe Hopkins scorecard

Thought id give an unbiased score on the fight after a ridiculous 117-113 in favour of hopkins. got time to kill waiting for a bus so why not

Round 1 10-8 Hopkins

Pretty much an even round minus the knock down, but even without hopkins edges it with clean effective counters

Round 2 10-9 Calzaghe

Calzaghe works the jab and starts to increase workrate whilst showing good footwork and movement ducking Hopkins straight right this time

Round 3 10-9 Hopkins

Hopkins beating Calzaghe to the punch and tieing him up not allowing Joe to throw

Round 4 10-9 Calzaghe

Calzaghe walks down hopkins with the jab and scores some good right hooks in the process, Hopkins lack of activity gives it away

Round 5 10-9 Calzaghe

Similar to the last round Calzaghe walks Hopkins down with the jab but hopkins picks up the pace but Joe shows good defence and head movement with some good counter left hooks.

Round 6 10-9 Calzaghe

Hopkins was more effective landing good combinations to the body and head fighting much better on the inside. Calzaghe still bosses Hopkins around the ring being the aggressor and connecting with a fantastic flurry as the round ends

Round 7 10-9 Hopkins

Hopkins lands the straight right again more regular and nearly puts Calzaghe down again but Calzaghe backs away learning his lesson from the 1st round.

Round 8 10-9 Calzaghe

Calzaghe scores with a big straight left and starts to box more effectively moving in and out and landing his combinations. Hopkins shows frustration by hitting Calzaghe after the bell.

Round 9 10-9 Calzaghe

Calzaghe Jabs and blocks the straight right hand counter from Hopkins, again forces him back and walks him down. lands a big left hook and overall activity beats hopkins to the punch despite Bernard landing some a good combination towards the latter of the round

Round 10 10-9 Calzaghe

Another Calzaghe round and Hopkins feels the pressure milking an accidental low blow from Calzaghe ( His head was dragged down by Hopkins and lands low ) But once the fight stars again its calzaghe landing fast combinations and suprisingly over powering hopkins in strength getting in a good right hook.

Round 11 10-9 Hopkins

First Clear round for Hopkins since Round 7, he starts to fight off the ropes becoming more aggressive and beating Calzaghe in a battle of flurries landing the more effective punches

Round 12 10-9 Calzaghe

Calzaghe shows in the last round what the majority of the fight has been. Hopkins waiting to counter on the ropes with Calzaghe moving in and out with the jab and landing some good combinations. Hammers away at hopkins until the final bell and gets my vote.

I never pay attention to compubox, I watched the fight when i was writing this and scored it round by round writing down each round as soon as i watched it.

Mate it wasnt that wide. Believe me I got tempted to give a few rounds to Calzaghe too because hopkins was holding constantly or headbutting but it was a close ugly fight
