I think he will fight the pacquiao/margarito winner. what for in the case of pac? I don't know other than padding arum's pockets and keeping it a strictly top rank affair.

I want him to fight either angulo or martirosyan, preferably angulo because there's no way that isn't a FOTY candidate. the winner of marinez and williams would be another one, and probably least of all but still fun, is a match in puerto rico or at madison square garden with cintron.

I'd like to see a rematch against Margarito, because there is that cloud of doubt over the win due to the handwrap scandal. No point in Cotto vs Pacman 2 though. After 3 rounds it wasn't competitive.

Considering Arum shafted us with the Pac vs. Cheato fight, I think we can count on Cotto fighting one of those guys next.

I could see it playing out in one of these ways:

    1. Pac beats Margo, Mayweather comes through and a fight is set for Spring. Cotto vs. Margo is signed also, probably for next summer.

    2. Margo upsets Pac. Pac retires to do politics. Arum whips up Cheato vs. Cotto rematch.

    3. Pac beats Cheato, Floyd is MIA, Pac retires from boxing. Arum whips up Cotto vs. Cheato rematch.

    4. Margo upsets Pac, rematch scheduled for Spring. Cotto vs. Mike Jones signed.

I would like to see Cotto face Angluo next than a fully recovered Foreman in a rematch. If he wins those two fights the Pacquiao/Margriato winner (Pacquiao) or Mayweather. Would be fights that he will have earned.

I would like to see Cotto face Angulo.

But looking at the options in Top Rank's stable, I'm thinking he will face Chavez Jr

well...arum could stay in house as he tends to do and match cotto up w/ the pac/margo winner. its a win win for arum. he either gets a pac/cotto rematch/unification...or a cotto/margo rematch/unification. either way, arum will clean up.

Whoever it is, it needs to be competitive but not a huge mountain to overcome. I think for Cotto to get his confidence back, he needs to win a difficult fight. Not necessarily a war, but a fight where he has to push through and fight back to gain the advantage. He did that throughout his career before that show of will simply did not work against Margarito, and ever since he'd rather backpedal than push through like say for Torres, now that he's tasted the losing part of that effort. He could have pushed forward against Pacquiao, he was doing at least some damage early, and the old Cotto might have (not won but kept fighting). If he can remind himself that he has the goods to push through an offensive assault, then he can bring back part of his fearless demeanor and add it to his new technical discipline under Steward.

I've been waiting for Chavez Jr. to get KTFO, and would love Cotto to be the one to do it. Once that small hurdle is cleared, turn him loose on Berto. He could win a belt back at his normal weight and it would have the young lion vs. old lion test we missed out on when Berto/Mosley was cancelled.
