I don't think Lewis would be number one, but he could conceivably get at high as number 2, but I can't imagine him beating Wlad at this point in time. Not sure how he'd do against Vitali to be honest, but Vitali's quite a bit slower than Wlad and it would depend on what kind of speed Lewis has.

A fight between Haye and him would be interesting, and if Lewis could weather the first 3-4 rounds, I think he'd win.

But outside of these three fighters, I don't think he'd have much trouble getting back into the top 5. But this is as much of an indictment of todays talent as it is of Lewis's skills.

Lennox is 45 now and if he came back he could do a Foreman and beat Haye to pick up a version of the title.

I think he'd be good enough to beat anyone around at the moment other than the Klitschko's. Wlad would KO him, Vitali would out point him.

Also, which one would make the biggest numbers...

    Haye/Lewis or Vitali/Lewis 2

    Hhhmm...

Yeah, pretty much how I see it going too...

Maybe losing to a few fringe contenders due to his age ala Foreman too..

If Lewis could get in any condition at all, there would always be some stiff titleholder he could beat. If a shell of Holyfield could trouble Valuev so much, what would a returning Lewis have done?
He wouldn't even have to accomplish as much as Foreman did. He wouldn't have to beat anyone of the quality of Moorer.
In fact, it seems like the Klitchko's are offering shots at their championships, and are getting no takers. Lewis could get a title fight anytime he wanted.

Foreman won a title when he was 45, he made his comeback considerably earlier as it took quite a time to get him into some kind of shape. Judging by some semi-recent photos of LL, he would need some time as well.

Both Klitschkos are out of his reach IMO, someone said he could have a chance against Vitali since he got slower, but I guess LL got no faster either since his retirement. Against Haye... who knows, I would favour Haye but wouldn't be surprised if things go differently.

It won't happen and i would'nt want it to. But if he did come back then he could definately do a Foreman and pick a strap up, namely the WBA. Haye would'nt come close to beating him in his prime and i think even now Lewis' ring smarts, reach and power would still possibly be too much for Haye. Saying that, fighting Wlad at this stage of their lives would be a big ask for Lennox, but for the same reasons i would give him a shot of catching Wlad on the chin too. He would give Wlad a bigger challenge than his been getting in recent years even at 45, but a big, big ask. He would still have enough to beat all the contenders going off just how good he was. But like i said it he won't come back.

Good points about Foreman coming back well before he was 45, i never thought of that. Plus Lewis retired at 38 which was the age George made his comeback. I still think Lewis could get a strap, but yeah he would probably need tune ups.

even a old Lewis would plow through most of the division. But if he took a Vitali rematch? Vitali smashes him.

    Hhhmm, some interesting opinions...

So, does anyone think that Lewis' style of fighting would be a good fit for his age?

Maybe like with Holmes?, who schooled Mercer in his 40's and was still going strong in his early 50's...

Yeah i do, his reach, jab, power, size, physical strength and not forgetting his intelligence would still be too much for most. Not getting carried away because this would be a slower, older Lewis. So he would have to change a few things and adapt a little. But that's what he was always able to do, adapt and change the course of fights.
Like i say i woud'nt like to see it, but it is interesting to think about.
Did Vitali start this thread to get the ball rolling? lol lol
