Is Alvarez really THAT big of a puncher?

I don't think he is, despite his vicious KO of Baldomir, to be honest.

He is a big puncher and he's only going to get stronger. The knockout of Baldomir proves it.

He is a good puncher but not concussive. The Baldomir KO was pretty damn good though. Baldomir was out before he hit the canvas. WHo has ever done that to Baldomir.

And it also was just one punch that landed. Not even a combination.

I'm not that sold on Alvarez or his power yet. Maybe he will cahnge my mind in time as he is so young. But he struggled early against JM Cotto and didn't look that great IMO. As far as Baldomir, no one had done that to him, but he was semi retired and had fought 3 times in 3 years against not that great of competiotion.

We shall see how good he can become.

He didnt really struggle with him. He won almost every round except the one he was hurt in if im not mistaken. That first round showed he has what it takes to be a superstar. He definately doesnt feel he is too young to be getting hit like that. I loved how he was on the verge of going down then he unleashes a combination of his own right back. Man he has classic wars coming. Do i think that was stupid? YES. He should have clinched and let the clock run out but then he would have looked worse doing that in front of the Mexican audience and lets face it. They are going to make his check.

He is a good puncher but not an elite level puncher. He's more a boxer/puncher than a pure elite level puncher.

Even though Baldo was past his best, Canelos still did what fighters like Zab Judah, Joshua Clottey, Floyd Mayweather, Vernon Forrest couldn't do, put him out cold.

He may not be as polished as an ATG hof fighter, but what 20 year is?

I'll tell you this, with experience polished technique. Power, he has.

Age doesnt determine power. Guys like Tyson, Tito, and Cuevas were knocking fighers dead before they were even 21.
