Different amounts for different fighters. The only one whose numbers were published (that I know of) was Kessler, who was guaranteed 5 million Euros for his first three fights.
I sincerely doubt it's that high. Not enough cash to go around for guys like Dirrell who don't have hometown support. A lot of people seem to think that fighters get paid more than they do.
Well they get showtime money (contract) + tickets money + others tv money. Kessler did against Perdomo over 2 mil . Think how much he did against Froch. "Kessler will make a mandatory defense of his title against Venezuela's Gusmyl Perdomo (16-2, 10 KOs) at a venue to be determined in Europe. Sauerland Event, which signed Kessler this month, won promotional rights to the bout at a purse bid on Monday with an offer of $2.114 million." http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=4344826
****. I guess winning a title, staying at home and fighting your mandatories isn't a bad idea from a financial standpoint.
Kessler gets a lot of money because in Denmark they sell his fights as PPVs for $100 a pop, plus he's well known in Europe and gets a lot of other European TV money as well. Plus he's the biggest live draw of the bunch, other than maybe Abraham. So it should be expected that he makes more than anyone else. On the other hand, Dirrell-Abraham probably generated zero revenue outside of what Showtime is paying (they're not flush with cash and usually pay about $1M a fight, tops) and ARD was paying (which is contractually fixed by Sauerland's TV contract. Things like that lead me to believe Dirrell couldn't have been making a million bucks a fight even. (Not to mention that if he was a millionairre, he'd probably move the hell out of Flint.) Plus on top of revenue, there are lots of expenses associated with putting on the card - arena rent, marketing, undercard, promoters fees, sanctioning fees, etc. Some of those come out after the purse and not before, but a general rule of thumb is that the fighters will only get about half of what the card makes.
the only thing that comes out of fighters purses is the promoters, manager, and trainers cut which is usually about 10% each. oh and ofcourse the sanctioing fee thats it. everything else like the arena rent, marketing, undercard ect... is the promoters job he usually would take care of that with sponserships, ticket sales, and foreign tv money
