    He seems well equipped to referee this fight.

    Nothing to see here.

    Cole had that one time when he told the fighter he was up so it was okay if he couldn't continue other than that I don't remember anything else bad he did.

    I only dislike 2 refs, tilleman like everyone else and that guy that was the ref of foreman vs cotto. best ref is kenny. I have more problems with judges then referees.

    Uhhh. Most recently he didn't call the blantantly obvious KD of andre dirrell
    off of a perfectly timed right hand from AA in michigan, and instead ruled it a "slip"

    The only issue I have with Cole is that he is so set on not making a single mistake again that he may over officiate this fight....

    Cole is not a bad ref, he had a really bad call a few years ago and took his punishment accordingly.

    I couldn't agree more. Bad judges are far worse.

    In that fight which was oscar de la hoya's first fight with his first client marco antonio barerra, cole ruled a obvious slip on pacquiao a knock down. later on in the fight pacquiao punches barerra who goes down but rules it a slip, a couple of rounds later barerra goes down in what looks like a slip but scores it a knock down.

    In his next high profile blunder, he was the referee for the juan manuel marquez vs jimrex jaca fight. this was the fight in which he told marquez after being cut that he was ahead on the scorecards, he was suppose to be suspended but he still continues to get high profile jobs whenever fights take place in texas.

    he was horrible in the ishe smith danny jacobs fight but lets just stick to the juan diaz vs baby bull fight.

    This guys asks the judges was it a punch that caused the first cut on diaz which was correctly pointed out by harold lederman as something u dont do as a referee. Later on in the fight, a second cut on diaz appeared, & in the end of that round you can hear laurence cole audibly ask "was it a elbow that caused that punch?" Then in the beginning of the round he grabs diaz & makes a accidental headbutt ruling.

    Heres a little info about Laurence Cole;

    His dad is Dickie Cole Sr. who is a former fight judge & now is some high ranking director in the Texas Boxing Commission.

    Laurence Cole & family sells insurance to fight promoters in texas in order for them to promote fights.

    he also handled the AA/Dirrell fight

    I'm okay with any ref as long as it isn't the guy that did the Pacquiao-Barrera 1 fight.

    ...oh, that IS him? ****.
