how often do you use heavy weights in your routine?

why, well my opinion is that at a point your build up to much fast twitch muscles and you lose a bit of the snap explaining things like

making the punch more like a mace less like a chain whip decreasing the overall speed and snap of the punch. and im sure the above also has to do with spending more time lifting and less time training as well.

    course thats just an opinion.

so mainly i was wondering how often you use heavy weights in your routine.

is it like a full routine or just a few supplemental exercises? every day? 5 times a week? once a week? as a full fledged knock me out boxer whats a good weight routine for a boxer?

:huh Just moments ago you wanted to fight me?

Anyway, yes I use weights probably 4-5 times per week. Mostly olympic style lifts, snatches, swings etc.... I box every day and I life weights nearly every day... Its how you lift them thats important. Also what your goals are.

Sparing isnt fighting as i said id be glad to spar you....if we ever met if anything with your tone id imagine youd try to kick my ass for some reason while sparring so id probably just practice only defense for the first round then maybe youd realize that im not trying to be tough and i might be alittle better then you need to make me out to be and maybe we could actually spar for 4 or 5 rounds.

do you just do snatches and swings theres also that clean and jerk/press i assume that as well am i missing any? do you do all three when you do lift or just one or two?

have you ever tried kettle bells for that stuff? if so what do you think of them compared to dumbbells?

I remember that face. Those videos have come up on *********** a few times in internet 'challenges'.

By the way Ylem, the quote you're using from Rossboxing is taken out of context. You know Ross also heavily encourages the use of weights and all other forms of strength training right?

The whole concept of 'snap' in a punch is also very subjective. Some of the biggest punchers in history don't appear to have 'snap'.. its more like WTFBOOOOOM!

EDIT: LOL at how boxing scene is censored.. nice work.

Not sure you want to do that...Ive never met Bomber in person but he seems pretty knowledgeable and VERY confident to me. 40-50lb difference in weight doesn't mean anything when there is a gulf in class the size of the Atlantic Ocean.

its not going to happen regardless of whether i should or shouldn't do it.

there's an actual Atlantic ocean between us.

I'll fight any one of you mofos... as long as you're unarmed and I have a machete on one hand and a .357 magnum revolver on the other + 10 ft of initial separation.

I like Ross' ideas a lot but he contradicts himself sometimes. In one of his boxing books he said running long in the mornings is good for a fighter, then said that long distance running isn't the best for boxing and running should be done at night.

Yeah he pretty much just reads the studies, and posts them. He doesn't make a real interpretation based on the evidence. That being said, what you get is alot of information that you can read and make up your own decisions about.

You do know Brown Bomber was a professional boxer, right?

A montage of his fights got posted once, he'd take your head off with the left hook he has.
