Yeah, Curry is definitely "one of those guys" but I have no problem with anyone calling him great. He was at the least one sharp, dangerous operator at his best.

Above average power, very good at counterpunching, great D in his prime, very good defensive footwork when at his best, could fight inside or outside, very accurate, throws smart punches.... I admit I'm a fan. I don't see how any fellow purist could not like the way Curry fought. His problem is that sometimes he would be off-balance, couldn't really adapt when he was getting beat up, he leaned in with his head and I felt he stayed at 147 longer than he should've though he was still good enough at 154 to pick up titles. Not sure if he did this in any other fights but I know he did back up in straight lines against Mccallum.

I cannot believe Virgil Hill is in that list with Crawley. No way. Virgil Hill is HOF and how would he not be considered greater than Donald Curry for example? Virgil had 25 defenses of his title. Someday people will give Virgil Hill more credit. He is totally underrated at this point.

The first one that came to mind for me was Max Baer but I suppose it depends what you call great - So many over these nearly men I would class as great anyway - like for instance - maybe MIke Tyson never acheived his full potential - some people think he could've gone on to be the greatest heavyweight of all time but it was just all too much and much much too young for him to cope with - but I think he didn't do too bad at all anyway I only rate 8 men in history as better heavyweights which in my book makes him great

for me montell griffin. had he got back in the gym when he was younger.....i dunno he had all the ring craft except the major power and body for a light heavy. beat some of the best in his division, and was outboxing jones. out hustling him very well fiented him into corners and didnt let him work on the inside. great technician, tactician and all round hustler.

looks like a fire hydrant fights like a lamppost

Good call. He was winning some rounds against a prime Jones doing well to come in with the jab backing Jones to the ropes.
