He won three of the first four but ended up losing the fight during a very flat Margarito performance. Most reasonable people thought that Cotto did enough to win and did well seen as he was cut by an accidental headbutt from Clottey. I didn't claim he wasn't beating the very limited Baldomir but it doesn't excuse the fact that he was warned and later disqualified for dangerous use of the head. You are correct about the Judah occurance - it was the referees ruling that claimed it was use of the head. Still, your post still doesn't enlighten me as to why he is held in such a high regard by some? He is very tough and has fast hands but in other ways he is limited and beatable. I still do not see the fuss if I am being honest.

This is the perfect opponent for Pac, a guy who has a small output and a simple shell defence. Pac can just throw combo's all night and not worry about being outboxed or countered. Clottey is "tough" but being tough just dont cut the cake anymore. Why isn't anyone looking for the Mosley/Berto winner? Or PW????

I scored Cotto-Clottey 1 point to Cotto, but couldnt help in thinking that Clottey was the better fighter and had it been 15 rounds, he would have won...Cotto just happened to win more rounds. That could be due to styles or the cut with Cotto, which made him appear eager for the fight to finish already.

This fight looks tough on paper...but Pac will brutalise Clottey. He is too stationary and his defense is just not right for Pac's offense, its good against textbook fighters but the randomness in Pac's offense which happens to be so varied, ridiculous output that comes from all sorts of angles.

Clottey's defense is a lot like Winky Wright's. You guys remember Wright vs Sam Soliman? Wright is a level or two above Sam IMO but even with Sam being the lesser boxer, smaller in size, he still gave Winky a very tough fight. It was that akwardness against the stationary defense. In this case however, Pac is 2 levels above Clottey.

So I expect to come in here post 13 March and for everyone to be discussing just how "shot" a fighter Clottey was; how he was hand-picked by Roach & Co. specifically for Pac... blah blah blah

You sound like Floyd. He builds him up, says it would be a tough fight to sell it knowing deep inside he's an easy pickings anyway.

Ill give him credit because this is a guy where its almost impossible to look good agianst. Clottey is competitive enough where he will always win rounds, get hit very rarely and when he does he shakes it off like its a light breeze. Hopefully if all goes well it sets up Mosley-Pacquiao best fight in boxing.

Clottey is very hard headed and can take a ton of punishment.
Lets face it ,he went into the ring against margarito who was likely packing loaded gloves.

But then you look at his fight with Cotto. He didnt make any inroads into cotto despite the puerto rican being savagely cut with a head wound.
Where as pacman carved up cotto's face like a cheese grater.
