Lopez wants to fight Marquez, Juan Manuel that is!!!

No you read it right folks, not a rematch. Just seen this article on BN24 - Juanma Lopez, fresh off a victory over legend Rafael Marquez, has announced that he wants to fight Rafa's brother - Juan Manuel at 130 pounds. JMM currently fights at lightweight, 2 divisions above featherweight where JML fights.

It is odd to call out the guy who you just beat's brother, especially considering the guy fights at a higher weightclass.

I am quite shocked to be honest, one brother after the other? Can Marquez even make 130? I am doubtfull that this fight will happen, but the fact that Lopez wants it, is quite surprising.

So what are your thoughts on this fight? Can it be made? And if so, who wins?

 

Big Marquez would eat him alive at this point, IMO.

Probably, but I just think it's odd that Juanma would want his fight. Especially considering the weight difference. He must fancy his chances

 

JMM is twice the technician his brother is, has legit power for the weight, and has all the heart of his younger brother, not a good fight for lopez.

 

At this point JuanMa Lopez would be biting off more than he can chew. JMM will tear him up to bits.

Lopez still needs the seasoning that comes from establishing some form of dominance at 126lbs against Caballero, Gamboa, John maybe even Juarez.

No more name-dropping to float one's name undeservedly. JMM has enough worthy challengers at his own weight class to be pestered by someone still trying to stake his claim at a division two levels below.

 

Yeah kartog I agree with what you said. Plus people forget how big Marquez look before the Diaz fight. Juanma would probably be biting off more than he can chew. Although remember John beat Marquez at featherweight, even though it was a controversial decision, Lopez is in the same if not a higher league than chris John.

 

Juanma was being interviewed by a Mexican reporter. Probably just said it to mess with people's head.

 

If Rafa had him hurt, i would hate to see what JMM would do to him. Juanma should focus on the dudes in his own weight division.

 

@130 prime jmm will send prime lopez to dreamland! present jmm is washed up and lopez might have a chance, but would still be a great fight.

A great bigger fighter, usually beats a great smaller fighter. Barring freaks like Pacquaio.

But I still see JuanMa giving JMM a very tough fight, and would be no push over.

I say lets do this, that would be awesome.

 

This could be a major career setback for JuanMa. He's better off staying Top Rank's coarse and fighting the top FW's before considering another move up in weight (particularly against a fighter in the class of JMM.)

 

This would be tremendous. Someone needs to make this fight happen.
