Is this whats going to happen, Semi 1 Johnson v Ward, and then Froch vs Abraham rematch? who do you see a rematch benefiting out of Froch and Abraham?
Johnson has 3 points so i believe that - If AA beats Froch then Ward will be first place and Froch will be in 4th so it will be Ward vs Froch and AA vs Johnson - If Froch beats AA then Froch will be second and AA will be 3rd ahead of Johnson on the tie break so Froch vs AA again and Ward vs Johnson. That's how i understand it, assuming it will be 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd? :? :nut
It will be in Ward's home town as "all" of his fights are in his home town. Dirrell refused to fight Ward in Ward's home town with Ward's referee and judges. Question is; How did Ward get all his fights in his home town? Bute was not allowed to fight in tournament for a good reason.
Ok based on this official showtime press release, here is what will happen. Home advantage in the semi finals will always go to the top 2 ranked fighters. The tiebreakers are as follows: Tiebreakers 1) Head-To-Head: If the tied boxers had fought each other, the winner of that bout will be seeded above the other. 2) Knockouts: If the two had NOT fought head-to-head or if they fought to a draw, the boxer with the most tournament KOs/TKOs will be seeded above the other. 3) Scorecards: If they remain tied after the KO/TKO test, then the seeding is determined by the total scorecard points earned by the fighters from each of their Group Stage bouts. The boxer with more scorecard points will be seeded above the other. Those boxers who win prior to the final bell (via KO/TKO/DQ/Tech Decision, etc.) earn 10 points for each incomplete round. Those who lose earn 8 points in a KO/TKO round and 9 points for each subsiquent round. Glenn Johnson will have inherited Mikkell Kesslers scorcards from the Froch & Abraham fights. This means if Arthur Abraham loses 10 of 12 rounds, or loses 8 and gets knocked down twice, and ends up with a score of 110 from the 3 judges, he will still finish in 3rd place. Froch will need to be completley dominant in victory to avoid a re-match with Abraham. An early Knockout, win every round and score a late KO or win all 12 rounds. This seems extremly unlikley and would be a shock in a 50-50 fights. So.... Abraham loses but its close, and picks up enough points to finish 3rd, which means we get Froch vs Abraham 2 in the UK.
it's all gone to ****. What if Bika sparks Ward (definitely a possibility) or outroughs him and outworks him to a decision? A.A and Froch rematching sounds good; but what if the fight is an uncompetitive whitewash??!?! Not Showtimes fault, but bringing in others, giving some of them points but not to others, it's all gone to pot. Best thing possible was for Ward to have a keep busy fight and Froch-Abraham to meet him in the final. This is just ridiculous, although I'm not complaining because we get more interesting fights to watch. The tournament has been a failure; the match-ups it has produced most welcome.
As above. Its would need to be a complete Dominant performance for them not to fight in the semi's. Froch would need to have a Calzaghe/Lacy style points win or an early KO. I agree. But if Froch vs Abraham is quality and Carl pulls it off, we get the rematch in the UK. Thats will be great. And Johnson will give Ward something to think about.
