I think this has been done in the classic section a few times.?.? I'll pick an in-shape Tubbs at 229 pounds to out-box Jim Young at 209 pounds in a time machine with both men being at their best..... Tubbs of 1985 / '86 and Young of 1976 / '77... The fight is dreadful and boring, but a good jabbing Tubbs wins on points..... ZZZZ! MR.BILL
tonny tubbs was a good, fast and skilled boxer in his prime, but jimmy young was stolen against muhammad ali in 1976, and ali even in 1976 was better than tubbs was ever. jimmy young by ud
This event stinks in real life, but rocks on paper...... Tubbs' offensive jab and leg movement sways the judges over Jim Young in a yawner... Tubbs pumps his jabs, while Young parries and slides away as often as poss... Tubbs wins on points..... Cheerio... MR.BILL
Doubt if the match would have been made in the real world if they were contemporaries...not enough demand for a fight of this kind with the general public I suspect. Young by UD for me, IF the best Young turns up. Young was a better fighter in the 70s (pre Ocasio) than Tubbs was in the 80's, and the competition was stronger in the 70s.
Tubbs actually beat Young in 1983, a year after he lost his contendership to Greg Page.I think Tony could beat a prime Young, but he would have to be in decent shape.
