Rafael Marquez has hairline shoulder fracture, out for six months.

I seen Rafa clearly throw many punches with both hands and yes rounds 7 and 8 he was clearly slowing down and getting hit more and more.

 

He slowed down because he was fatigued and knew he needed to land a heavy shot with his feet planted.

It didn't look like he got rocked badly or buzzed at any point. In the later rounds, Rafa was just loading up on his left hooks and his right hand shots looked like they had no mustard on them.

To those who questioned his heart and reasoning for retiring on his stall, your all a disgrace, the man suffered a hairline fracture to his right shoulder.

The difference being that Marquez was competing in a sport where people die, if they can't defend themselves. So Favre can't throw a ball as far or accurate. Who cares? It's obviously not that severe or he wouldn't be playing.

 

Broken hands arent so bad since you have protection on them. Do you know what a fracture does to your joints? They are basically grinding when you throw a punch. I have a fracture like that on my elbow and i could barely extend my arm. It was alot of pain. Now imagine fighting with that injury against a top fighter like JML.

Trust me the pain is bad in itself. Getting punched back and not being able to defend yourself is worse.

I have had both of my hands fracture, broken foot, sprain ankle, and pretty soon I need surgery for one my knees. I do know how some of these injuries feel. Trust me. As said Marquez is a warrior, did the injury play a role, of course. But as said and everyone is entitle, my opinion is he realize he was getting hit more and more and becoming fatigue and outwork. That play more of a role of him quitting than the injury to his shoulder as he was clearly still landing from both hands.

I was really pleased with how Marquez looked, considering the injury. I think his performance alone against a very good champions says everything you need to know about him. A fit Marquez beats Gamboa and John. Caballero would get slaughtered.

 

Go get the video, because what I did see was Marquez landing a good shot. Lopez then reacted with his shots and became real aggressive and even screaming at Marquez to bring it on:huh

 

he didnt win round 4 then? let me remind u that after 5 rounds, even according to u, they were all tied up. jml won the next three because marquez shouldnt have been fighting. u cant fight with a fractured shoulder. he must have been in tremendous pain. marquez with two arms stops lopez any day of the week. lopez cant take what he dishes out. marquez can take more than what he gives.

Boxing is a SPORT. It may be the sport of fistfighting, but it is a SPORT. It is not the end-all and be-all of these guys' existence.

Any other sport, you get injured...you retire for the match, and it's ok. In boxing, where you're literally fighting for your CONSCIOUSNESS...you get an injury that stops you from being able to protect yourself, and people call you a quitter.

Ever boxed with a broken hand? Or even a broken finger, a BRUISED finger even? I have and it's ****ing horrible, borderline unbearable...let alone defend yourself from a guy trying to take your head off.

 

I have to say that Marquez surprised me with the effort...i was expecting Juanma walking over the older and smaller Rafa(remember he fought most of his life at 118,not talking about height),instead with and injured right shoulder he stood his ground for 8 rds against the younger heavy hitter.And could have KO Juanma if his shoulder didnt collapse...and if Weeks didnt give Juanma some extratime to recover....
