Sorry if this has been posted already but it was on the site that talks about boxing. Press Release: Allan Green's advisor (and Boxingtalk principal) Greg Leon has formally notified the Nevada State Athletic Commission of Green's intent to appeal referee Robert Byrds decision to call a halt to his bout this past Saturday evening against Glen Johnson in Las Vegas. With Green ahead on two of the official scorecards, Johnson was awarded a knockout victory at the close of the eighth round. Green went to the canvas after receiving what he feels were rabbit punches. Although Green beat the count, Byrd stopped the bout and Johnson was declared the winner. To handle this appeal, Leon has hired attorney Josh Dubin, who successfully had Timothy Bradley's originally declared knockout victory over Nate Campbell changed to a no contest in California. The appeal will be filed by the end of the week, and the rules of the NSAC entitle Mr. Green to a decision within sixty days of the filing of his petition. A review of the fight makes it clear that the blow which put Mr. Green to the canvass, and led to Mr. Byrd stopping the fight, was a rabbit blow. No question about it. There is absolutely no point in having rules in the first place if they are not going to be enforced. Now it is just a matter of asking the Nevada State Athletic Commission to apply its own rules. That is all we ask for. I have full confidence that the Commission will do that, said Dubin. At the time of the stoppage, Green was ahead on two of the three scorecards. Said Leon, The fight was close, no doubt about that. But my guy was winning and I just want him be able to win or lose within the rules. He was hit in the back of the head at the end of the third round and then again in the eighth. He should have been given time to recover. I just hope the Nevada Commission hears our case fairly. If they do that, I have no doubt they will overturn the referees decision.
What a crybaby. Two reasons why you got hit by a punch on the side of the head. 1. You were the one who was leaning down. Glen didn't force you to lean down and 2. Your left hand was no where near your face. It's not Glen's fault that Allan Green has no defense. Allan Green you got KO'd deal with it.
This is what you call not losing in the right way. I thought you could visibly see Green mentally starting to unravel round by round, it was as though he was fighting to stay in the fight, rather to win it.
I will be pissed if that gets changed! Glen has been ****ed over enough in his career, & Green deserves Nothing!
He wasnt protesting while Glen was standing next to him and praising him. Green got KOd because he made a rookie mistake of turning his head away and dropping his guard. Glen threw a legal punch and green turned away and got clipped behind the ear. No contraversy here. Glen was breaking him down and the KO was coming within the next 2 rounds had he not landed that punch. green doesnt belong on the big stage. Hes mentally frail and Glen exploited that.
Anyone have any idea if they have a shot at overturning the result? Would break my heart if they would rob Glen of his well deserved victory. Not his fault Allan kept leaning down like a idiot.
No way they overturn the result imo. The promoters and showtime dont want any more confusion in the Super Six. It would be a massive injustice if they did.
He has a shot, but wont...i think he was going to get ko anyways..tarver said if your leaning one way,the shot its there so it wont make it illegal...im going to be honest..i cant stand green, ward and the guy with a backwards baby tattoo(dirrell)
I think we all agree on this: **** them!! Green was indeed leaning down with his hands low. Plus the shot was to the temple not to the back of the head. All credit to the Road Warrior!!!
