    So you condone grown adults acting in a threatening manner toward infants - over an issue that has absolutely nothing to do with them?

    Nice.

    A mate of mine was killed in Afghanistan just before Christmas last year for absolutely nothing, trying to save some of the very people that are probably plotting against all of us - but you don't see his family and friends intimidating young asian children on their way to school.

    Are they bitter?

    Are they upset?

    Of course!

    At the end of the day you've got to just rise above it and get on with your life.

    Calm down a bit everyone, the thread was started to ask an innocent enough question that was answered a good few pages ago. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but some of this **** is getting away out of hand...to anyone deliberately trolling...wise up to **** would yous.

    to be honest. im london irish. im not political or particularly sectarian. i just dont think dissing bobby sands is anymore acceptable than mandela or malcolm x. go into a black thread and diss malcom x and see what happens. the dude went on hunger strike for 66 days ffs. i respect that.

    I take it you're talking about the Catholic Holy Cross Primary school in the Ardoyne, and the constant loyalist mob that were verbally and physically intimidating the children, their parents and even throwing pipe bombs and car battery acid at the police and army when they tried to "hold" the mob back. I wasn't sure if that made the news in Britain at the time, as they were pretty selective about what stories got broadcast.

    The inaction of the police and army there shows a lot of the problem with how N Ireland was [probably still is] policed in a completely sectarian way. If that had been a Nationalist mob, the police and army would've used force, water cannons, plastic bullets, truncheons etc to remove the mob.

    I think everyone in their right mind thought that mob was a total disgrace.

    Hopefully with the peace process, everyone can move on from it and live in peace.

    I can't remember the name obviously because it was years ago, but that's pretty much how I recall it on TV.

    Those women should have been sent to the gallows and executed.

    Everyone has their own beliefs, whether religious or political..... but there's other ways of showing that than killing people or intimidating innocent kids :verysad

    Hopefully it's all done with now.

    I've never understood why Irish people consider Bobby Sands a martyr. Probably through ignorance of who he actually was.
    Sands was an evil little thug who terrorized his own community. Just because he went on hunger strike and Thatcher let him die (one of the few things I like her for) doesn't mean his past should be forgotten.

    Yep. My mate's little sister had **** thrown at her while walking to school, by grown men and women.

    But then English people say that it's Catholics/Irish people who need to "let it go".

    I dunno about you, but if someone did that to my 9 year old sister, I'd want to catch a body. But maybe that's just me

    i dont really what to get involved in this thread:-(... but sands didnt terrorize his own community as they made him MP for fermanagh/south tyrone..... 100,000 went to his funeral, hardly the actions of a community that was terrorized by him... your the one showing ignorance here ... i dont know where you got your facts as i would love to know the source.... ****, the bigotry in this thread is sickening:verysad

    I always try to stay away from discussing norn irish politics, it's a minefield!

    But I've no time for small minded extremist views, both sets are as bad as each other and do nothing to help society move on.

    you mean nationalist, not catholic. yes, by definition a nationlist considers themselves irish, certainly not "northern irish" because thats recognising a divide in the country, unionists will call themselves british or northern irish, never irish.
