Butes fans should acknowledge the fact that he was badly hurt by Librado, and sure.. he may have had a long count or a poor ref helping him out, but so did Douglas against Tyson so we shouldnt cry over spilled milk.

Bute deserves credit for getting up, but more importantly for coming back from a controversial win to clear the blemish in fashion.

Ward beat Kessler and deserves a top rating, Ward only really has one really good win. Kessler fought and beat Froch, a much better win than anyone on Butes record, yet it does not warrant a rating above Butes? Doesn't sound fair to me.

Bute confirmed many times he was never hurt or staggered !!! He was just dead tired like never before, all of a sudden the fatigue hit him out of nowhere...

A low red cell blood count can do that at anytime...

I'll be the first though to say that a good case can be made to have stopped that fight prior to the knockdown, because he wasn't able to defend himself properly.

    Fair comment :good

I'm not even a Bute fan, just a boxing fan but maybe he was hurt maybe not much, but he still get up on pure will and win the rematch by KO, this should be enough for anyone to like him.

You were talking of Bute and punchers. Andrade is not a big puncher. He gets hais ko's by exhausting his opponents.

    Get it?

    Is Bute the best? Maybe.

...There are very few fighters it can be said about that they are "maybe the best at 168lbs" - I would throw Ward and Dirrell in there too... but maybe someone else is better than them, overall. In any case, no one else except for Kessler and Froch has a strong case.

Can a fighter be the best without having beaten the best of the rest?

Sure... so you're point about Bute's resume is neither here nor there...

Can a fighter PROVE himself as the best without having beaten the best of the rest? You know the answer to that one...

There is "best" and there is "ranked best".

If Ward beats a good version of Bika clearly and convincingly, I will rank Ward No.1, despite the fact that I would pick Bute to beat Ward...

We can't say he's the best until he proves it. He has to face some of the S6 fighters before we can really say he's the best. Now I would rank him in the top 5 of the SMW division.

    1. Andre Ward
    2. Bute & Abraham tie

Style wise I think Bute is a bad match-up for Froch. On the flip side I think Dirrell is a bad style match up for Bute.

I think Bute Abraham is a great match up, toss up imo.

No. And even in the unlikely event he beats the Super Six winner that won't be anywhere near an impressive accomplishment as winning the Super Six itself as the Super Six winner will have had 4-5 very tough fights previously, proof of how tough this is can be seen in the attrition rate so far even before the semi-finals have been reached.

Imagine if there was a HW tournament now, and Wlad and Vitali Klitschko was not invited. The HW tournament lasted 4 years, and 8 of the top 10 HWs in the world were part of it.

During those 4 years, those 8 HWs would all be facing each other, while Wlad and Vitali would be fighting the best of the rest.

Would that make any of those 8 HWs better than Wlad and Vitali? of course not.

Then please explain to me, why fightnews rankings is correct.

Lets say this is a court, and im the judge.

I know nothing of this case.. But u need to convince me that Bute should stay up there "ranked 2". I as a judge would need clear evidence.

    (lets make a example)

U cant judge any1 on how they look, only on what they did (with evidence). If a man is convicted for violent behavior, he wont get free inicent just because people thinks he didnt do it and because he looks inicent. nono. They must show proof.

This is the same for Bute. U cant put him up there before he prooved he belongs there.

    So..

    The proof tells us this:

3 best wins for Bute: bika, andrade and miranda. tho he lost his first against andrade :)

    Who else did Bute fight?

    Lets compare to Kessler:

3 Best wins: Froch, andrade, mundine.

Kessler also fought Calzaghe and Ward.

    Compare:

Bika vz Froch = Froch wins
    Andrade vz Andrade = even
Miranda vs Mundine = arguably even (but lets say Miranda wins)

so its 1 for each and 1 tie.

So the fact that makes me think that Kessler should be above Bute is the competision he fought beyond those 3. A champion that deserves to get a top spot on the ranks is a champion who dares to fight the big guys. Kessler went to Calzaghes hometown in front of 50k audience. Bute is a wuss. Get him off those lists plz..

Why should Froch be ranked higher?

Froch won against taylor in the states. Froch won against Dirrell. Froch won against Pascal. Froch would win against Kessler at home.

Thats enough for Froch to be over (bika, andrade and miranda + Wuss)

Hell.. Direll with a win against AA is enough to balance (bika, andrade and miranda)

On resume Froch is the best SWM. But I think it is Ward and Bute who are the stand out fighters, with Froch and AA very close.
