trinidad sr sees a very bright future for juanma,he was impressed with his victory of marquez the other night and has stated that marquez even at his age is a tougher more dangerous fight for juanma then gamboa."gamboa is good, but he comes forward and gets hit very easily,it would be an easier fight for juanma than marquez".as for caballero trinidad says that he is an akward fighter that can cause some problems but nothing juanma shouldnt be able to handle, the thing with caballero is the risk is greater then the reward,he does not draw much money, juanma is at a point in his career where he ONLY can fight the big names the big fights, and with the gamboa showdown comming in june he should wait to fight caballero when he moves to 130 later this year or next, thoughts on papa trinidad??
Regardless of what Trinidad Sr says , this is a 50/50 fight for me but if the fight moves into the late rounds I see JML in a more favorable position.
I don't see it being that competitive, honestly. I like Gamboa and I think he'll do well against guys like Caballero and John, beating them both soundly, but Lopez is a terrific puncher. It could be similar to the Ponce De Leon bout.
There is an abysmal difference between JML and Yuriorkis speed, which will be the one factor thats going to decide the fight. JML will come forward and get his head clipped off, probably in 3 or 4 rounds. Gamboa by brutal and hype-ending KO.
Bob Arum knows the PR hope gets demolished should he fight Gamboa, thus the fight probably will never happen. JML will go after someone like Chris John, but not Caballero or Gamboa, even though I'd figure he's got a good realistic chance at beating Celestino.
The funny thing is Lopez has beaten former and current world champions and is coming off a victory over a future hall of famer and Gamboa's biggest win is over Mtgawa, but yea of course...Lopez is the one that's all hype.
The onlything Gamboa has over Lopez is speed but imo he's more clumsy and Lopez is a far better skill boxer in which imo will win Lopez the fight. Both don't have great chins in which that's been proven. I can't wait for that fight to happen in june.
I agree... I think Gamboa punches every bit as hard as Lopez, but his speed, movement and athleticism far surpass Juanma's... I see Lopez going to sleep burtally at the hands of Gamboa. And by the way, all the fuss about Gamboa having a suspect chin are highly exaggerated. Everytime I've seen him go down, it was because he was caught off balance due to the way he move constantly with his feet... and he's gotten right back up. I don't see anybody including Caballero, John or Lopez standing up to what Gamboa dishes out. If Gambao can improve his defense I see him as potentially the future P4P king in boxing.
Typical response from a Puerto Rican. Here is the bottomline, people will always give Biased answers to their favorite Countries and boxers. The Cubans will always go for Gamboa, the PR's with JuanMa, the Panamenians with Caballero and the Indonesians with John! It's a never ending rollercoster, it's so hard to find fans that will say the truth even though that it will be against their own favorite boxer. Trinidad Sr's opinion is just another Biased opinion, if he was Cuban I am very sure he would say the exact thing about " JuanMa is taylor made for Gamboa ", people it's a never ending issue !!!!!!! Forget about what people say, let's just wait for June and all questions will be answered ... :bbb
This + 1 There is a reason why the Lopez-Gamboa has not happened yet, a TKO by Gamboa will affect Bob's money train on the Juanma Hype Express......Let them make hay while they can, then Gamboa can send him into retirement....in the meanwhile lets just watch Juanma fight cats that we all know he can beat, and Gamboa (the real talent in the division) will clean it out by taking on real bouts such as John and Caballero.......:hi::good
