Modern day boxers are superior to their old counterparts.

I was watching LaMotta v Walker Smith jr earlier and felt that Mayweather could have stood in between them and outboxed them with one hand each.

Especially LaMotta, the fruit cake doesn't know what protecting his face is.

Robinson was past his best by LaMottaVI.

It is very hard to compare them, it almost a different sport.

A Mayweather with 150 fights behind him verses a Robinson would be interesting; as would a Sugar Ray with a proper diet, training and rest between fights against a Mayweather.

I think either scenario gives the edge to Ray...

Both would kill him, LaMotta was just too big, had too good a set of whiskers and would have nothing to fear in return. This would allow him to focus on the body where he would crush Mayweather.

Robinson would have more options on how to beat him but would probably result in the closer fight.

Mayweather's only hope would be to find a fast bicycle and ride it all night. But I don't think a match-up against these two-especially LaMotta- is even fair.

Boy, its only a matter of time before Janitor and Old Fogey are attracted to this thread like a couple of moths to a kitchen light.

If Robinson fought Floyd it wouldn't be a case of Robinson outmanouvering him or outboxing him, Robinson would give him a pasting. Even if Floyd grew by 3 inches and come in at 147 without either man having physical advntages. When Robinson launches one of his calculated attacks to the head and body , Floyd wouldn't know what day it is. Even with his tucking up tight the way he does so great. A great defensive-minded boxer cannot beat Robinson , because there is no defense to that onslaught. Floyd puts his guard in front of his face , he catches 6 punches to the ribs. He guards the body, he gets 5 on the chin. Evreyone knows that fight ypur talking about was light years from Ray's prime aswell. You have said something silly.

You remind me of the blindman that grabs an elephant's tail and says it must be a snake.

Have you watched old fights? The 1940s fighters are slow and technically inferior. They'd have one flurry and be punched out. It would be two of Floyd's easiest fights I'm telling you.

And don't get me started on Greb/Dempsey

Please stop it now , have I watched old fights ? You can't have watched that many ? Floyd Mayweather is a defensive minded genius , ut there is not a defense against Sugar Ray's onslaught at its best at 147 , you either fight him and do your best , or you can tuck up the way Floyd does and get hurt.

And you're right that the days since Greb and Dempsey have evolved , but you can't disrespect them 2 , they are 2 of the very best at middleweight and heavyweight , both were ahead of their time in terms of combo-punching aswell.
