A fair call Steve, and without devaluing it too much, it also depends how far you want to look back:

Lionel Rose fought a couple of rather handy p4p opponents in Japan's reigning world champ, the 50-3-0 Fighting Harada, and later Mexican KO king Ruben Oliveras, who was 51-0-1 when he took Rose's title.

Others Aussies like Tony Mundine Snr (Carlos Monzon 82-3-9) and Paul Ferreri (Carlos Zarate 42-0-0) also fought p4p legends for their titles oversees.

Yep Norris was P4P no3 at that time.

Not sure Mosley was no1 against Taylor but certainly top5

RJJ was no1 or no2 against Glen Kelly

Great topic, haven't had one of those on the Aussie forum for a while

Sakio Bika took on Calzaghe after his demolition of Jeff Lacy, JC would have been top ten p4p at that stage.

It was Green's big chance to win Mundine's mystical World Galaxy Title too.

What makes you think JMM is on the slide? Ignore the floyd fight, they should never have been in the ring together at that weight.

This clearly isnt Marquez best weight...He isnt young and I think the Casa & Diaz fights showed a marked regression in his reflexes.

But he is that good, even slightly past prime he is among the best fighters in the world.

It would be a massive, massive win if Kat go up...make no mistake of that. We can argue how far Marquez is gone, how far away he is from his best weight etc. But he is the best lightweight in the world and one of the best fighters p4p easily, we cant argue that.

Oh yer this fight never gets the kudos that it should...I almost jumped threw the roof when Waters dropped him.
Sigh so close but so far.

    Ditto.

Norris didn't stay down long. But it sure surprised him, and caused him some re-thinking.

Very courageous performance by Waters. He certainly didn't go home wondering what might have been - he had a real crack!

If Katsidis beats JMM, IMO it's a bit like Hatton taking the torch from Tszyu (even though I'm still dirty on Hatton and the ref for mugging Tszyu that night), similar sort of stages of their careers...
