Can someone who says Chambers owns an effective defense please explain to me what he does in the ring to show that? From what I've seen he stands right in front of his man, in-range, and holds his hands up. He doesn't really move his head, doesn't bend at the hip and doesn't move his feet. From what I can tell he has a decent high guard, not a good defense, and definietly not one that he can punch out of.

If I'm wrong please tell me why. I've only seen a handful of his fights but I've never been impressed on any level.

    Haye by far.

Chambers defense is worthless against taller fighters and he cant counter from it effectively.

Anyone who doesn't engage with Valuev with look elusive and fast. How about showing Haye's fight with Fragomeni, a 5'11 fighter whose punches he couldn't avoid and then compare it with Eddie's performance against Dimitrenko? Maybe you need to log off.

    Indeed.

When someone's argument comes down to "He was able to run away from Valuev so he is a defensive genius" then you have to wonder what drugs they are on.

Can you explain what is it, which in your mind, makes Chambers defense so damn effective?

I would take Chambers defense. Though I always caution people not to think of defense as some entity separate from offense. The problem with Haye is that I can see the holes. He keeps his hands low at inappropriate times, his movements are predictable, and his conditioning is suspect. These are all things that will cause a fighter to take more punishment.

Look at the job that Chambers did on Samuel Peter. He thoroughly confused the big man and he had real trouble landing anything significant on him. Haye has never had a performance like that where he frustrates a fighter with his defensive skills.
