gotta say this thread really evened out

the tide is SLOWLY turning on opinions of wlad, which have been notably weak in the classic

he's being given a solid shot, even favoured, against an all time great and top 20 heavy. times have changed...

Lamon Brewster was about as slick as a piece of sandpaper and no pin-point puncher but he managed to stop Vlad and Sanders quickness troubled Vlad...Vlad has improved since then but anyone who thinks a drained underfed and under trained Walcott that fought Simon is the fighter we are talking about here should compare him with the Vlad that lost to Ross Purity, Brewster and Sanders.

Are we talking both men at there best or worst?

How nice of you to bring up a fight that took place when Walcott was just a part time journeyman fighter working in the factories all day with no time to train/hardly eat, while also taking world class fights on late sub notice. Walcott was no where near his prime in 1940. Walcott didn't hit his best years for another half decade at least!

Also, read a fight report some time. When Simon landed that hook, Walcott was already stumbling around the ring due to exhaustion from punching himself out from the previous rounds(due to of course Walcott's lack of ring condition). Walcott won the first 5 rounds against Simon.

I think you should stop assuming you have a superior knowledge, and the ability to evaluate fighters that you patently do not possess.

I made that list to show Walcott fought many punchers, the list proves it.
Ray? Anyone on this Forum not consider him a big puncher?

Brewster, had kod who, when he stopped Wlad?
A washed up 33 year old Golota.

Puritty, had kod who , when he met Wlad ?
    No One.
Sanders, had kod who, when he met Wlad?
    No One.

Walcott was 34 when Louis kod him,and 38 & 39 when Marciano kod him.

Both World Champions, and both ATG punchers.

Wlad was 22 when he was kod by a journey man [not jourenyman].

27 When he was kod by, part time unranked Sanders.

    29 when kod by Brewster.
Wlad has been kod by 3 men that had not
stopped a top man between them.
You really should not attempt to play the superior insight ploy, because you obviously do not have the equipment for it.

BS, prove to me Baski or Shkor were big punchers. :deal Don't duck my questions.

And like I said, you do not want to compare the KO percentage or winning percentage of between the top opposition of the two.:deal Wanna debate this?

Brewster is easily a bigger puncher than most of the guys you listed, and might have had the best chin of the bunch too.

Wlad has 3 losses in 58+ fights at heavyweight. Walcott was Ko'd more often, and lost to more joruneyman. The only Journeyman Wlad lost to was Purrity. Those are the facts.

Ezzard Charles stopped and KOed roughly 11 top 10 fighters at Heavyweight. Wlad has not beat anybody with 11 top 10 wins period. Wlad does not even have 11 top 10 wins yet. End of discussion.

Joe Baski stopped once in 60 fights.
Lamon Brewster stopped twice in 35 fights.

Joe Baski has recorded 3 top 10 KO wins.
Lamon Brewster has recorded 2 top 10 KO wins.

gomez especially was a monstrous puncher for his era and may be in top 10 all time hitting heavies if reports are to be believe

elmer ray isn't far behind (****, his debut was so good at madison square garden, the ring suggested joe louis ducked him)

I think that their career circumstances are so different that they cannot redily be compared.
